5speed, we'll be looking for a review of the Glen Breton Single Malt, sir.
toolbox, you are certainly welcome. Perhaps I can delve deeper into my psyche for another good story.

Sirs,
According to Stephan Gabanyi "it cannot be determined whether the Irish or the Scots were the first to distill uisge beather (water of life). But we do know that the English were responsible for transforming the Gaelic word uisge into whisk(e)y. The different spellings used by the Scots, the Canadians, the Irish, and the Americans were adopted only in our own century. (Whisky is used by Scots, Canadians, and Japanese;whiskey is used for all others . . ."

Stephan Gabanyi, Whisk(e)y, Abbeville Press, 1996.

Yea, I remember seeing that somewhere when I was a kid, probably an uncle was mis-using it as an IV. I think he's long gone.

I was concerned lately, only lately. Only lately because I was wondering where all the whiskey had gone. I thought that perhaps it was me, that I was the culprit when it disappeared. It all goes so fast! And then it dawned on me that I was using my favorite coffee cup, Big Bertha, to have a whiskey at night.

My concern caused me to delve into the DSM-IV. For those of you living on the wrong side of the Arctic Circle & trying to rebuild a Goldwing, that's the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. In the index Patriccio should be listed right after Pathological Gambling, but it isn't. I had to go deeper, introspectively deeper. I turned straight to section 305.00 Alcohol Abuse. My name isn't mentioned: CLEAR! Go to section 303.00 Alcohol Intoxication. No mention of Patriccio: CLEAR! Section 291.9 Alcohol-Related Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. Again, no Patriccio:CLEAR!
I was on a roll. Now, I can display my ab---so---lute favorites right here without any guilt.
Here they are listed left to right w/ favorite on the left:

Oops, and then I came across section 291.8 Alcohol Withdrawal. Yep, every Monday morning.

I looked at the single malt last time I was at the liquor store and thought of you. I just can bring myself to fork over $200 for a bottle..

OK, OK, OK, OK, boyz 'n grlz, there ain't no peer pressure here. Let's just do some rocket science type mathematics. I have a high tech, antique calculator right here on my desk. I don't even have to reach for my smart phone or dig around inside the bottom drawer of my file cabinet to locate the scientific calculator. I can do a moonshot from my captain's chair. I'm not bragging too much, but I do happen to have right here a Sharp EL-1197G II. That's the actual model # under all the dust.

So if I buy a Bushmills 16 year-old, single malt, triple distilled, three barrel whiskey for a mere $96 & do some math, I can completely justify the purchase. I can go with 750 ML divided by 30 days, which gives me a unit of 25 ML per diem. Or I can do some other math & get about .13 cents per ML. About $3.25 a day, USD.
Compare the purchase w/ beer. I can buy a Coronado Brewing Co. six pack for about $12 (plus CRV), and I can drink two six packs a week, easy (especially when I'm not competing w/ wheeliedog). Especially in the spring & summer. That's $24 a week or $96 a month.

Look at all the time & money I save by not driving to the store four times a month to buy beer! And another thing, beer has about a million calories per bottle; I have no idea how many calories are in whiskey; don't care. Beer has CO2; whiskey doesn't. I don't have to worry about when & where to expel the CO2. And because I don't have that extra chore of expelling CO2, that means whiskey is a thinking man's beverage, a philosopher's liquid aide, a wizard's magic wand or spell, a pondering person's potion, a simple drink for a simple man.
Cheers to all
