Re: Never Ever B4 seen photos of a Goldwing
One hundred per cent staged shot.
I'm using the Cerakote again to shoot the muffler, some bolts from the forks, & the kick-stand spring. I only had a teaspoon left from the last batch, so I had to order another pint from NIC Industries. Go to cerakoteguncoatings.com (or cerakote.com) for more info. Perfect lighting, doncha think? Looks like an angel hovering nearby.

If there is one thing I have learned throughout this process it is this: Check your respirator for spiders before you put it on.

Ceracote arrives goopy & soupy. You have to stir it quite a bit for an even consistency.

Shoot the stuff & back away slowly.

Looks good.
Glad to see that you removed those Ny-lock nuts from the bracket before welding. My buddy didn't, the nylon melted out and then later the nuts vibrated loose and fell off.

I thought this was a pic of your bicycle seat with drink panniers attached. Took my brain a while to see the respiratorPatriccio wrote:For high quality & professional photography, place a tool that you love in your picture.

Re: Never Ever B4 seen photos of a Goldwing
I'm going to blame the procrastination on my comfort level. You see, I have a giant mattress, about 18" thick, with a feather mattress on top, a feather pillow, a down comforter, silk pajamas & my alarm plays Dulcinea in the morning. Every dawn finds me in my own little country called Spoildom. Only seismic activity in the area will get me out of bed. The Little Prince heard the refrigerator kick on this morning, so he had to crawl out of bed. Something must have happened to the Puppy because there are vestiges of remnants of a blurry memory in there somewhere. Oh right, about a thousand years ago, when Norsemen were landing on Newfoundland & looking for a good place to build a turf hut & drink mead, right, I fixed something on the controls.
There is a knurled ferrule inside those control boxes that wrap around the handle bars. I didn't think they were supposed to spin around, so I epoxied both first, but that didn't work, so I broke out the JB Weld. It worked. If there is one thing I have learned throughout this process it is this: Check your respirator for spiders before you put it on.

And then I had to repair the imperfections on the tailpiece. I just don't want to drive around a bike where people can comment on it & say things like, "Hey, that's totally flawsome!" So I painted a lil today.
Below, the nagging imperfection. And then I masked, & over masked, & double masked & cleaned & sprayed, & painted, & cleared, etc.

Shoot white first.

I shoot a coat, then I give the paint time to flash while I pace the patio & watch the clock. I shot about 4 coats of white to cover those imperfections.
Below, after several coats of clear.
NEVER, EVER buy bananas several days before painting; the fruit flies will gitcha every time! I hope I can buff this lil critter out of the clear. I'm thinking maybe this fruit fly is a message from my mother on the other side. She still doesn't want me riding a motorcycle. But then again, if I kill myself riding the Puppy then you'd think she'd love to be re-united w/ her boy. But then again-again, after my teenage adventures, maybe she's just getting back at me! Or most likely, we will end up at opposite ends of the Other World Spectrum.

I almost forgot. I put some wheel covers on the barbee & cleared them. Some day (not too soon, of course) I'll put them on the truck w/ the wheels I painted last year.

Re: Never Ever B4 seen photos of a Goldwing
Thanks, Kevin. Thanks, Wheeliedog. Thank you to all of you that use this site for entertainment purposes only. And I think I owe Big Brian a thanks, too, & Sugs & everyone, anyone, & all the ones who have assisted me when times were dark, when times were bleak, when I wanted to paint the Puppy black 'n blue because those colors most reflect my personal philosophy of life (except within the confines of my silk pajamas & feathers). And thanks to those who have noted my excellent taste in single malt Scotch. (Come to think of it, I'm out.)
Let's see how long it takes me to buff out the bugs & sags on the tailpiece I painted yesterday. It's now Friday, 6:02 pm PST, & the clock starts----now!

Re: Never Ever B4 seen photos of a Goldwing
I know, I know, it hasn't been six weeks since I completed a task on the Puppy. There wasn't any seismic activity near my master bedroom, so I got up for a cuppa Joe.
I had some bugs & some sags, so I started sanding out the imperfections w/ 400 grit wet sandpaper, then I graduated to 1000 then on up to 2000. After I had dulled the whole tail piece, I moved on to the electric buffer machine.
First pic = the sags in the clear.

The whole tail piece has been dulled.
Bufferness has commenced.
