A forum for stories, pics and updates of your resto's. Be it a barn find, Grampas hand me down or a bike being brought back to it's former glory. If you are restoring it, show us your stuff!
I've been riding it all over the county lately. But things feel peculiar. Last year around February or March I started to put more miles on my bicycle because a friend was training for the RAW (Race Across the West). Previously, I had bought several motorcycle jackets. The quandary now is that the jackets are too big. I weighed in around 197# because I basically just lifted & ate everything in the restaurant, in the kitchen, at home, everywhere. I ate all the pastas, the spaghetti, the linguine, the tortellini, ravioli, vermicelli--everything. And I ate all the pizzas w/ all the toppings, especially our Grand Slam pizza because it has all the meats & I added extra garlic, lotsa cheese, & then it's cooked to perfection. Ingest w/ several beers & heaven is now.
Just riding & eating less, I dropped about 29#, now I feel like one of those little wrinkled dogs, a Sharpei puppy!
Put on a jacket & go riding. Now, I feel like a Sharpei puppy trying to steer a moose through a kindergarten class while wearing a fat lady's bloomers.
I'm thinking I may have to eat more just so I don't have to spend more money on smaller jackets. I was in shape, right? Round is a shape.
If there is one thing I have learned throughout this process it is this: Check your respirator for spiders before you put it on.

That's what I always say to justify my eating/drinking habits!
Great set of pics and your bike looks great.

Now, if I were the Master of the Galaxy, leaf blowers would be gone. "Abracadabra! Pfffffft!" I would convert them into something useful like a high quality Italian espresso machine.
While I'm thinking of Italian, here are some shots of the plates I made for the Puppy.
"Il mio cucciolo feroce" [il meeo coo chilo fe roche]
My fierce puppy. Sort of says it all from this point.

I recently moved into my new office. It's ground level, rather simple, but it serves. As you can see in this pic I have an east-facing window w/ a galvanized steel grate; great for keeping the rats out.
I also have cable!
I have a halogen work light, hot & cold water lines right there on the floor joists. That pipeline is not exactly the Ventures version of Pipeline. It's a newer version called Wasteline.

Another feather in my cap--I recently won First Place, Power Tool Repository, Special Category-Residence, North Side of Street between the McGregor's house & the Donatelli's bungalow.

And in the "You Won't Believe This" category, I was actually feeling like an archeologist for about 4 nanoseconds two weeks ago. I demo'd the shower pan & walls in this bathroom, & right there in the wall w/ a heckuva lot of debris was this genuine, bona fide (but not certified because I'm not a trained archeologist) artifact. The house was built in 1966, so it's old. Not as old as the Egyptian pyramids, but old enough to give me a giggle for a minute or two.

And check out that top. Way before pop tops were invented for aluminum cans. You had to work for your water & syrup & sugar & food coloring.

On a lighter note, all joking aside (nuk nuk), I do sincerely thank all of you guys who have read & commented on this life-changing build. Were it not for the dedication to this motorcycle by all of the members of NGWclub, I would not have finished this project. And now I get to ride it.
Also, I appreciate the fact that 5speed actually invited me into his home without even mentioning a background check for me. I am humbled. In the same breath, I have to confess that I do have acute grass-is-greener-on-the-other-side-of-the-fence syndrome. I can wake up in the morning (about eleven) & spot the other side of my bed. Then I have to move the six pillows from the east side of the bed, & all the pillows on the west side of the bed, and arrange everything so that I have the best side. This can occur several times a month. That means that my traversing the 2400 miles to 5speed's back door probably won't happen in 2017. It was 98 degrees the other day on the job site; I would have loved a little patch of grass in his back yard to pitch a tent.
I also have water bottle hoarding syndrome.

Here's a milestone. I'm not sure what 1022.5 means, but I hope I can multiply it by ten or twenty.
I don't think the road ends here, wheeliedog; there's still beer in the 'fridge, gas in the tank, miles & miles of roads.
You guys helped me build this unit; and now you can help me ride it.
Until next time.

I am sure I'm not the only one who thinks this, but your posts are always so entertaining to follow. So glad your bike is running now.

Errr, that's why we have background checks!

I'm glad to see you are still keeping your thread alive with more off the wall humour and drivel
Should you decide to embark on your trip to 5speed, and are prepared to make a small detour, you will be more than welcome to spend some time with us in sunny South Africa. We need to import some humour, our politics are not so funny anymore. I can also use the help of someone who has mastered the dark art of paint so I can finish off my project. It's been on hold for a number of months while I was taking stock of my life, and I will soon be joining the ranks of the unemployed.
I'll miss payday, but the other 29 days of the month should be a blast
