To accommodate the awesome style, I think an antique set of Gatling guns would look rather nice, don't you think?
Nice work. Looks good.
If there is one thing I have learned throughout this process it is this: Check your respirator for spiders before you put it on.

Those would look good, but that would cost more than the bike did. I am just under a grand for the bike and all parts/repairs. I added a few more details to the bike...

Looks real fine.
That's what's cool about naked wings, a grand, and you have a bike that looks great and rides
so smooth and comfortable.

Congratulations on a great project. Now its time to pick up another one or two and do your part to save the world (or at least the early Goldwings).

Thats the plan. I hope to find one under 5 bills again. These are great bikes. It is hard to believe that people let these things go for so cheap some times. It's as if they have no idea what they have. Shhhh... Do not let them know.

I'm sorry, I just saw this post. Better late than never... As I was working on my bike, I ran a few forum threads and the issue I was having was one of the other threads. I am going to copy and past some of the other thread here to fill you all in.

First....

"I got it all together and then found out my stator was bad... Well, I got her all together and now I have to rip her apart again. The stator is bad. When I got her together, I was reading 14.34 volts at the battery at 2000 rpms.

Two days later,I saw the headlight growing dull, and tested it again. The battery was down to 9.5 and dropping.

So I tested the yellow wires.

Wire A: 4.14
Wire B: 2.48
Wire C: 1.58

The stator is shot. So now I need to get a new one, but I do not want to buy a piece of junk. Who makes the best replacement stator for a Gl1100? I do not need one that overperforms, OEM specs would be fine."

Then I took out the engine. "So how did it go? Well, let me tell you...

It took a bit of work, but I got the motor out. Then I took the stator cover off and found out what was wrong. The guy who had the bike before me cross threaded the flywheel bolt into the shaft and did not get it all the way in. It rubbed up against the stator cover, got hot as it rubbed against the stator cover as she spun, and welded itself to the inside of the shaft. I used an impact wrench in an attempt to get it out and it broke. About a pinky tip worth of the bolt was broke off in the shaft.

I spent two days drilling it out and then filling it down till it was as thin as I could get it and still could not get it out. Ended up taking it to a machine shop and having it retapped. $75.00

Had to order a new stator cover, stator, flywheel bolt, gaskets, and stator cap. Took a week to get it back together and another week to put the engine back in. I have very limited time to work on it. 15 minutes here, an hour there. But I got it all back together and she seems to be working fine. "

That clunking was the stator flopping around due to the bolt being backed out. Again, sorry bout that, but it was covered in another post.
