A '75 followed me home today

Post #1 by wog » Fri Mar 01, 2013 3:26 pm

Picked up a '75 today from Craigslist to add to my "Fleet"!
Non-running and stored outside under a tarp for a while. PO didn't have a title (New Jersey) so that may be a challenge.
A lot of rust, but overall in good shape.
The seller mentioned that it had 55,000 miles on it when we first spoke via phone. Drove over to check it out and noticed the odometer!!!

Nice find. If you need a titled frame or 2, let me know, as I'm close.

GL1-10075XX
mfg 4/75
Is that a low number?

The paint is in excellent condition.
Couple of questions for you '75 guru's...

The pin-stripping on the "gastank" covers overlaps at the ends by the seat, very carefully cut to match the angles. Is that original?
My '78's and '79's have the Honda badge in the front under the headlight. Did '75 come with one?
Did "Hondaline" make any luggage racks for these bikes? I didn't see any markings but this one is very good for an after-market one. Turn signal mounts and all.

Great, thanks.
That may be the best route if I have troubles with the DMV.

I picked this one up right between us, in Ybor City.

anim-cheers1 Good one!
Having it titled in a different state makes for extra special trouble.

Great find.!!!!! The rack you have looks very similar to the Hondaline rack. I actually will be selling a NOS Hondaline for the GL 1000 soon, just don't know what to ask for it yet.

The cuts on the pinstripes look right but the color is wrong. I think it is a case of the picture exposure rather than the actual color of the strip. I have a blue/ green 75 so I really like this bike. Nice find. Hope you can get it titled OK.

Thanks. I believe it's original striping. I'll get better pics when I start the project. The outer stripe is more gold colored.
After a little thought (the last hour or so), I think hooking up with Roncar to purchase one of his titled frames is the best route. I'm going to strip it down to the frame anyway.
I really like the color also, as all my other bikes are black.

No idea, I'll hook up a good battery to them tomorrow and let them blast!
They're yours if you want 'em.
This is one of the first times I'm not spending a few days removing all the "extras" from a bike I purchased. dancr

Sure, why not? See if they work, then let me know how much you want for 'em. Nice looking bike, too!
