If you manage to break that one, I will personally come down and remove that torque wrench to the nearest scrap dealer. lolol

I've had it tested! It's good!
If I break another one I won't be able to admit it anyway

This is it after anodising by a local workshop. Nice people to know.
It is in colour, just a dull grey on a white board.

I have already started on a second one as I had enough material after parting off. And it's already drilled.

Forgot to add to last post that the pic came out the right way. Used the iPad rather than the phone

Been off sick for a while but getting back to speed now.
Nice little sitting job this one, been making the foot plates. Pics show left side first fix, looks ok to me so paint and tidy up next. Right side in build, pics for next time. Also finally sorted the exhaust, again pics to follow.
Also visible is the first home made exhaust clamp. In stainless, just couldn't bring myself to spend on commercial ones.

On your floor boards I would use countersunk bolts. If you aren't planning that already for final assembly. The way you have it now I would catch my boot on it all the time.

Been a while, poor weather and worse health slow me down. But don't stop me!
Put the pics up in a bunch in case some were bad.
First and fourth are the instrument panel I have been making, put a block of sapele through the band saw so I have enough to do end and sides to keep the rain out. My original panel had been broken and the handlebar starter switch had disintegrated. Lifted the fuel gauge off the faux tank top, don't seem to have the block of 3 clocks most GL1000s came with. The leds came without tails or markings but with a little help from the good people here I tested them with a low voltage supply and found out which way to wire the tails and earths. They do work, and each tail has a crimped connector. I wired the earths to the choc block to take just one earth tail off.

Second pic is the modified air receiver to fuel tank. I have taken a brave pill and will attempt again to give it a vynil wrap. Last time I tried it just wasn't good enough so I've bought some more expensive wrap this time won't try any complex curves, I shall leave the ends black.

Third and fifth pics show the battery strapped down and most of the electrical components housed. You can also see the modified gear lever, I've moved the lower link up a bit to give a better address to the gear crank and reduced the lever throw a little. The foot boards are bolted down so I have been able to temporarily replace the saddle and checked the fit. Feels good, really good!

The ignition leads are now made up and I will fit them next. Still have the tank and fuel line to connect but at least it's in. Then I have to tidy up the rats nest of wires, add oil water, plugs and petrol and it might run. Oh, and fit the points.

Doing a fair bit of work in the house now because of the weather which helps move things along.

G'day "transitman" :-D

I guess it is a little late for my comments, but here goes.

I have broken two of them horrible clutch plates myself and found the reason is one or more of the springs drop into the groove, then "Ping" when you torque them up.

I ended up putting a 1200 clutch in all 3 of my 1000's, there is more surface area on them (and no springs) so my sidecar outfit which is putting more strain on the clutch on take off can manage.

I can only guess what extra weight your trike will put on the std 1000 clutch.

Both types of 1200 clutches fit into the 1000 engine but only the 84 cover plate has the same hole pattern as the 1000.

I now have 3 spare std 1000 clutches in my spares shelf (soon to be sent to the scrap metal merchant).

You are doing a great job on your trike anim-cheers1

Best regards, Peter.

G'day to you too, Pedrotq! Never to late for a good idea mate, thank you very much, I appreciate that, and when I have to pull it down again after beating the life out of it, I shall do as you advise.
It's a slow old job but I'm getting there. I really won't mind a few breakdowns because I will at least be on the road!
Just to be on the safe side I am going to invest in one of those trike trailer fittings and stick it on the lovely wife's motor. Then she can run out to the rescue. Her idea, bless
Cheers, Barry

Reason why I have done few posts recently is because I've been doing the same job for best part of three months. Have been sitting poking around this rats nest of wires since Christmas. Slowly getting it together. Perfect winter job really, sitting next to a gas heater.
I had got it a lot tidier but to really get to grips with it had to pull it out and unravel it. All sorts of interesting things popped up, the indicator switch shows 6 leads on the diagram but only 4 run from it. Looking inside shows there are 6 connections so there's a couple of loops in there somewhere. Same in the hi-lo light switch and the horn, look carefully and you can just see the blue feed looping between them.
I've complicated the issue with 2 front light assemblies but initially I am running these leads to a choc block to make easy changes. I hope to have wrapped it up in a week or so then I can get back to things I know a bit more about.

Been a week since I wrote that and I have the dash LEDs lighting up, one headlight working and the front flashers on, but not flashing yet.

Sorry again about the delay in posting but I've also been off sick again, but I am hoping to be on the right treatment sometime next week.

Still working, slowly. Pic shows tank nearly fixed, wiring to rear lights going ok, passenger seat cushions fitted.
Also fitted a lower bar. this was originally fitted to make the exhaust compliant with our regs which don't allow the exhaust to be sited outside the planform of the trike and i just had to have them poking out of the frame.
to my mind the lower bar tidies up the back view, draws a line under it.

leaving the mudguards off until the trike is done. they would be easily damaged.
