Been a while since my last post post but work still progresses.
Biggest job nearly sorted now is the clutch. I made a new pressure plate but left out a small but vital turning step. Sorted now and assembly slowly proceeds. But for some reason the cable attachment lever is now not correctly aligned. Hope to worry that into submission soon.
Another fairly big job is making a complete wiring diagram.
All the electrical parts work but my old bike diagram was close but not quite all there and the changes I've made are legion. So it's out with the laptop and open office draw and a long winter job rolls on. I am checking each terminal, starting at the front and laying it out.
Other work is on tidying the homemade handbrake lever. I am fitting a small guide to prevent the lever from rocking sideways and also fitting a grease point to the lever swivel.
Looking really grim but it all works! This is the labelling and tidying job

I got curious on how you approached your rear suspension so I spent a little time going back over your previous posts to take a look at it. From what I can determine from the pictures you have what amounts to a trailing link type suspension with three links on each side. What I cant figure out is how you've allowed for up and down movement of the rear axle. Even though you have a shock mounted above the axle it looks to me like, for lack of a better term, the front of each trailing link is welded to the frame, clearly no movement allowed at those joints. Each rear attachment point of the "links" is mounted to a shackle that in turn is welded to the rear end, again no allowance for up and down movement. If I'm correct in my thinking I'm pretty sure you have what is in effect a hard tail but the way its set up I'm thinking the first hard bump is going to bend those links. My wife has a trike with independent rear suspension (IRS) and believe me those rear tires want to move up and down. I fear you are in for a very rough ride with possible damage to the "trailing links". I hope I'm wrong.

I believe he has pivot points at the original swingarm bearing position for the link arms. Y/N ??
I was thinking torsion differences might be problematic over time. :dunno:

HOTT

Thanks HOTT for pointing that out, I completely missed it. That's pretty close to the same setup that Terrie's first trike had. A GL1500 with an early Lehman trike kit with external swing arm. The thing rode like a buckboard I can't express my hatred for the way that trike road strongly enough. Every time one rear tire hit a bump independent of the other it would move and transmit that torque to the swing arm point on that side. That torque would twist the bike's frame and transmit that twist to the handle bars causing them to turn slightly. It was an incredibly rough ride. It was that experience that causes me to recommend to anyone who checks out Terrie's trike with the expectation that they are looking for a trike for themselves to only look at IRS trikes. The straight axle trikes all ride rough in comparison and ones with that wide mount to the swing arm that increases the leverage to the swing point are rougher still. Newer Lehman's have moved the attachment points on the axle much closer to the center line of the trike to help decrease the leverage but you can only do so much with a straight axle.
If we can't fix it, we can fix it so no one else can.
