Thanks Brokentoe...it was a labor of love and a test of patience all at the same time...
here's a final pic before I head out the door to Mid Ohio...
Still needs decals and final paint touch up here and there...

Excuse my ignorance, but I can see any pictures in this thread, nor a link to find them. What am I missing?

Thanks!

Ok, try this. Go up to the User Control Panel link on the top right of the page.
Click on 'board preferences'
click on 'edit display options'
make sure that 'Display images within posts' is optioned.

If it is, then it's a setting within your browser that is preventing you seeing them.

Thanks OF. All the display settings are on. Strange. This is the only thread I can't see pics. I'll keep digging.

Excellent colour choice there!

Is it Renault Liquid Yellow pearl? (or Jaune Iris nacré as the French call it ) ?

Image

It looks so different under differing lighting conditions......your photo shows the pearl effect better than mine. Do you know how many coats of yellow your painter used? The more you use the darker the colour becomes, as the undercoat is white.

I love that Café racer seat!

What is that on the cam covers? Powder coat? Looks good, vaguely like the Honda OE finish.

Wow, Walt. You've done a great job of recovering that 'lost' machine.

When did you actually start the project?

Thanks for all the great compliments guys...

With the time crunch for Mid Ohio, I wasn't able to fit the cafe tail so modified a HD seat and it actually works pretty well...

I used Duplicolor engine paint for the valve covers, engine hangers, carb stays, front and rear calipers and final drive pumpkin and am happy with the result...I cleared over all of it, but it is already turning yellow on some of the silver areas, so I wouldn't use any clear next go round...

I started bringing her back to life about a year ago...still working out some bugs with the motor and want to drill the rotors (good excuse to buy a drill press, don't cha know...)...

Does anyone have a good pattern they'd like to share for rotor drilling?

I entered the '76 at Mid Ohio Vintage Days Ride 'Em Don't Hide 'Em event.

The entry fee included a lap around the track, which was alot of fun...seeing the layout from a racer's point of view (at a very reduced pace of course LOL) ...now when I watch the AMA races, I can identify where the racers are and the various twists, turns and banking they are experiencing...makes me want to take up vintage racing someday...

After that, the entire group did a nice ride out in the country, then back to the AMA tent to put the bikes on display and judging...

The judges liked my bike and awarded it first place in the Special/Custom category...
