My original thought was to NOT split the plenum. As you can see, I did split the plenum and its a good thing I did - the bolts holding the individual carbs to the plenum halves were finger tight.

Ordered Randakk's master kit tonight.

Randakks kit comes with replacement plenum bolts. Good thing for me, I had to drill all mine out.
I had a heck of a time getting everything apart, they were gummed up so bad.
Your carbs look to be in pretty good shape, hopefully they'll come apart easily.

We went away from Torx and into square drives for framing and such. When the torx would hit a knot or a hardwood, the tips of the drivers would snap off. I went through 15 heads on one small deck, then went to squares. Haven't broken or stripped a head in a long time... I do use the torx when we plan on predrilling hardwood decking...

Good thing to know.

I haven't used enough of them yet to break the tip. And I only have the one driver that came with the box of screws. Square ones for me next time.

We call the 'square ones 'robertsons' after their (Canadian) inventor.

"In 1908, P. L. Robertson began to manufacture a square recess impression in the head of a screw in Milton, Ontario, Canada. At that time, it was a revolutionary change in the fastener industry. The first patent was issued in 1909 and the last patent expired 55 years later in 1964. For his invention, P.L. Robertson screws and screwdrivers carry his name to this day."

How does it run? - Not there yet. Need to work on the exhaust system next....and its still in the basement. I have to push this bugger up a 1/2 flight of stairs in a few weeks. (provided the snow has melted)

That is a plus, I think a guy in my home town had to jack up his house and pull down a basement wall to get one he built out.

Well, you are doing just fine as I think you have at least two weeks, but more like a month minimum. I just wish I was moving along as fast as you. Your bike looks great!

I was working on my '81 in the basement, but figured I'd have a hard time making the 90 degree turn in the middle... Plus my wood working (and it's dust) has kind of taken over the space at the moment. Nice progress on the bike! (I just happened to spot a sulfur yellow sitting in a snow bank along side a garage yesterday. Gotta get back through there and stop in...
