My 81 gl1100 engine paint project
I've owned my wing since day one. I take great care of it and recently afte 27+ yrs. and 110+k miles on it I finally yanked the carbs and rebuilt them. While they are out I wanted to clean and paint the top of the motor. I saw an earlier post about using duplicolor cast aluminium high temp paint which I did and it matched the OEM engine color perfect. I also hit it with some duplicolor high temp clear and it came out great. Here are some befores and afters. See what you think?

Thanks. I spent about 5hrs on it yesterday. Going to tackel the front engine cover next. It has seen at lot of road and needs a good freshing. Going to pull the heads and paint them as well and re-do the head gaskets. The comperession is running around a 145psi on all 4 so i'm leave the heads alone.

Yes they are 83 forks,83 calipers as well. On the rear I had to swap the swingarm as well to fit the bigger tires. Everthing fit perfect. I didn't go with the the intigrated braking system the 83 had , just left the stock 81 brakes. Everthing works good as far as mph to rpm, still 4grand @60 mph like stock. Handles 100% better with the bigger tires and they ride the road better too! And the looks of the 83 one piece mags vs the comstar is no comparision.
