12 days & no updated pics This project makes me want to do my 82-83 hybrid all over again. It`s just too cold to work on it & too cold to repaint it. (maybe spring) The only problem i have with my 83 is after i ride my 07 FJR it`s like riding an Amish buggy (quite the rage around here)

Not a tremendous amount of work done on the bike in the last couple of weeks. Grandson came down with some kind of creeping crud which invalided him over the Christmas week and just when he started feeling better the wife and I took off for three days to visit my youngest set of Grandkids in Baltimore. However we did get most of the electronics under the false tank mounted and connected to the wiring harness.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. The one on my yellow bike is painted black but its beginning to chip so I'm not sure which way to go on it. BTW, I sent the grandson home with the inner fender to clean up and he just didn't want to do it. Seems he thinks no one will see it so why clean it up. Sheesh! Some people just don't get it.sunnbobb wrote:Darn nice looking work! Replace that radiator cap, it just doesn't look right sitting there all dirty!

I'd replace that radiator cap as opposed to painting it. You want them to blow at the right psi and they're cheap enough.

I keep coming back and looking at how clean that set-up looks. Mighty Tidy.

I got so much grief over the radiator cap that I replaced it! Installed the radiator overflow tank and the petcock/fuel filter assembly. Also got the wheels back from powder coating.
I asked in an earlier thread whether it would be best to paint or powder coat the Comstars and there was some concern about loosening the rivets when the rim was heated to flow the powder coat. I took the rims to my powder coater and voiced those concerns. He didn't seem to think that heating them to 400 degrees for the length of time it takes to flow the powder coat would bother the rivets. So I had them done in Extreme Chrome, which is a very bright silver but it bears no relationship to a chromed finish. I'm very pleased with the results.
The Grandson is working this weekend and I definitely want him to put these wheels together so worked has slowed a bit. Maybe we'll get something done in the evenings this week.

Mighty Tighty! If you don't mind me asking, what did it run to powdercoat those wheels? And what sort of clamps are those around the fuel hose going into the petcock? Do you have an extra set of covers that you sent to me, or did you strip the paint and fire them off?

3/8" crimp type clamp found in the plumbing department at Lowe's.
I had an extra set.
