77 gl1000 maybe ready

Post by IL77gl1000 »

This winter I planned on doing some routine maintenance on the 77 gl1000 and be up and running the 1st warm day after winter.

Planned on:

Changing the timing belts (because everyone is psycho about new ones here)
Changing the water pump (weeping coolant)
Rebuilding the master cylinder (leaking on gas tank- taking paint off, lame)
Changing the brake pads (leaking fork oil killed them)
Changing fuel filter (just because)
Changing the speedometer cable (it was busted and held on by electrical tape)
New seals in both forks (very leaky)

Well, just finished all the maintenance, only 6 months behind schedule.

Today everything is back together and I am going to test ride it this evening.

What a pain.

The test ride went ok.

It ran really rough the first 20 mins, but I think it was the old gas.

Tonight I will get 100% new gas in the thing and buzz around again.

I totally missed riding on the wing.
