Dyna S ignition problem?

#1

Post by pancake »

I am wondering if anyone else has had the same problem with a Dyna S electronic ignition unit that I have encountered. On this unit, once the correct timing was set for the first two cylinders, the second module could not be moved enough to set the time on the second set. It would make contact with the first module before proper timing could be achieved. Any one else had this happen or am I the lucky one?
It's easier than I make it look!

I've seen this issue discussed in the past few months. Try doing a search on Dyna-S. Recall that someone shaved the gap between the two halves a little to get enough adjustment.

Yea on one I installed I had to grind down the washer of the locking screw to give it enough clearance and on another I actually had to grind a bit of the coating down on the module itself. I suppose that would be in severe violation of any warrantee so be warned.

on mine I'd noticed that I can actually loosen and move the non-movable module on the plate. there's only one Allen socket head holding it.
