TomK Cycle recycle Powder Coating job

Post by sunnbobb »

Late last week, I was invited to participate in the JP Cycle Ultimate builders show in Seattle next week. Looking over my bike, it had a years worth of wear and tear that needed to be dealt with. I also had been planning on powdercoating the radiator grill and oil filter cover. Looking at the 1100 valve covers, both were seriously scratched from the bike falling over a couple times.

I shot a not to TomK and he agree to shoot the parts on a speedy timeline. It went like this:

Monday night: send a note to Tom. He writes back, "Lets go for it"

Tuesday: I polish a set of gl1000 valve covers, sand blast the radiator grill and clean the oil filter cover. Order powder to be sent directly to Tom. Get all of it in the mail before the end of the day and ship across the country from Washington to MA.

Friday: Tom lets me know the powder came, but not the parts. ARGH!

Saturday: Tom tells me the parts have arrived late in the day.

Sunday night: I get a note from Tom, the parts are finished and in the mail back to me. USPS notifies me of shipping.

I should have them weds in time for the show.

Now that, my friends, earns respect!!!! Way to go Tom, and thanks SO much!!

Your bike looks great. Good luck in the show. The bikes are judged by the participating builders for the trophies, you should do well.

Can you tell me what the mufflers are that you have on your bike?

Thanks.
Have lots of bikes... need one more.
