Hi Trygve!
Yes it's a beautiful piece of machinery .

The Weber has been rebuild.
Not much to say about that, except my old mantra:

do a cardboard replica of the carb
to insert jets, emulsion tubes, etc.
so you can keep track where they belong:

Image

I've messed around with the covers to see if I can come
up with some sort of solution to cover the extra belt.

Image

....the whole thing has been squeezed into the frame
(after having to cut out the cross-member just in front
of the gas-tank)
Image

still have a few things to fix.
Alter the bolt that holds the extra pulley,
cut out a piece of the false-tank 'body'
to make room for the Weber :

Image

Does seem to 'belong' there, doesn't it ?:

There you have some good rules to keep everything as it shold be..

Maybe customize a stock cover, if you has a MIG welder to tackle the job...

Not mutch space again there Lars, really a tightfit look. Will the radiator fit?

Hi Try.
Yep that's exactly what I had in mind

Yes, it's supposed to fit, but has to be moved a little forward.
There won't be room for the standard cooling-fan.
The set came with a pair of small fans that I do not want to use.
I'm looking at some modern 'flat' fans where the electric motor
doesn't take much space, as it's build into the center of the fan,
like this Kenlowe:

Image

..they are a lot more effecient that the standard fan,
as they have more 'blades' and larger fan-blade surface,
so a smaller diameter will do the same (or better) job.

Very intresting Octane, the stock fan is a big cake
Looking forward...

Well well
Slow progress here, and sort of digging into details;
can't really find a motorcycle-fan slim enough to fit in.
There's VERY little space.
So decided to check those old crappy looking fans that came with
the original blower set-up:

Image
Image

..and they turned out NOT to be so crappy after all;
I bought a new modern (PC-type) fan of the same size as these
and to my surprise the originals were hugely more effective,
and all in all functioned rather well.
Surprising after 27 years of being exposed to all kinds of wether.

Heck: fixing up old stuff is SO much more fun
than using money on new stuff !

so took them apart to check them.
They're really nicely made. Real metal and aluminum,
no plastic crap,
and revolving on a set of real roller-bearings
Image

Look at that;
thats one VERY small roller-bearing (and it's in fine working order):
Image

Gotta fix them up nice; so here they are after blasting:

Image

BTW;
got a good offer from a guy I know, who distributes Indian parts,
for a set of Double White Wall tires.
Old-style tread pattern, but modern kevlar inforced construction
and approved for 210 km/h. (130 miles/hour).

Had to try'em on:

Thanks Trygve!

To add a little lubrication to those tiny bearings,
I used this rather amazing stuff;
it's made for them modern O-ring chains and
comes in a spray can.
When sprayed it's so thin it's able to penetrate even pass
O-rings...and after a while it 'dry' up to a thick
grease-like substance.
Great for getting grease into closed bearings.

I put the bearings in a 'bath' of this stuff.
Here it it after drying up:
Image

Oh, one can spend a LOT of times on these small details

Image

but then again; I find it so satisfying to turn old crap
into old 'good stuff'

I do like that fan set-up.
But someone had installed it too close to the belt-pulley
as you can see, there are traces of it rubbing the fan-'frame'

Image

..had to move the radiator foreward
but the thread'ed 'pins' on the frame
that hold the radiator at the top are too short for that.

So I thread'ed them in all the way:
Image

and the cut them shorter
and attached one of them 'sort-of-long-bolts'
which have an inside thread
Image

..and viola: radiator moved foreward:
Image

Facinating stuff......right ?!

Goodness! This is soooo much trouble.

I'll sell all these crappy old bikes,
leave this forum,
and buy myself a brand new Chinese

Sushizh Yuo Gong Gang Pang
Exclucive De Luxe King of The Road
125 cc Hyper Special Cruiser

...yep, that's what I'll do !

Bye bye !
