That is brilliant ! I got an extra 83 rear wheel. I'm going to take that advice next big ride I do.

When the weather gets better I suggest you take the bike on two or three consecutive 550 to 600 mile rides and see how the stock seat holds up for you. It seems to work fine for one or two day rides but after that it really can get uncomfortable. At least it did for Terrie and me. It does seem to work better for riders between 5'6 and 5'9 or so and not greatly overweight. Shorter riders sit too far back and taller riders are cramped. Heavier riders seem to crush the foam in the seat so after a while you feel like your riding on the frame. You might find it fine but then again you may want to set it on fire after the 4th or 5th day on the road. Better to find out now before you set out on you epic journey. There are aftermarket seats available with better support that do not change the stock seat aspect. Terrie actually has one on her trike from Ultimate that was a vast improvement over the stock seat.

I did not enjoy the stock seat at all as I'm tall and isn't well suited to my body shape. Went with a Russell Daylong with an extra two inches push back after the first season and now after 10 years of use, I still like it a lot. I can ride a full tank out and that's about 4 to 5 hours straight. Two up I average 250 miles per tank, less when I'm solo.

Yea I can see how taller folk could feel very cramped on these. I do

It is a much more compact riding position than the 1000. My knees have been telling me that they will need to be stretched out if I am going to sit all day. So I will be adding some highway pegs of some sort. The seat is definitely not "fresh". The PO was a Large man and the foam is not great. But it did come with 2 Airhawk seat pads so I will be experimenting with those at some point.

Looking at a Florida run (785 Miles each way) maybe next month but probably April.

I used these Kuryakyn Ergo Mounts. They are infinitely adjustable and you would want the longer (6") arms. The way they mount they do not interfere at all with lean clearance like some mounts do. Since they ride up under the engine head for support they will not spin on the crash bar at all. You can stand on one peg with both feet and it will not move. In practice because of the width of the engine I usually used one peg at a time although I could use both at the same time easily enough. These pegs combined with the back rest will allow you to straighten your legs out completely while propping your bum against the back rest and you will not be in contact with the seat at all. Its a pretty handy maneuver on a long hot ride.

I must be wierd. Stock seat, stock pegs, no highway pegs. I do have the Utopia, had purchased it before I brought my new '06 home. I'm ~5'10" (32"inseam), 185 lbs. Over 114k miles, still comfortable to over 500 miles a day, which is my mental limit, not physical. Like they designed it for my body.
