And that's with 50 lbs of stuff and my fat 4th point of contact!!!!

A shout-out to Bill Rea, my mechanic, but more importantly, one of my best friends. :)

You're from SoCal and you say Arizona has too much traffic?? At least we agree on the joys of traversing the desert this time of year. If it weren't for visitors, I'd be out somewhere myself...<sigh>.

Nice shots, as always. (And you either ride too much, or there's something else going on).

Yes. Traffic is insane here. I can also filter in CA. Being in NV has been agony... Traffic that I'm stuck in...

So I met up with a guy who has a brand new GL1800 DCT.

We dragged from a standstill. I was shifting at 10k RPM and was flat out. And he stayed ahead the WHOLE time....

My GS got smoked by a Goldwing.... If you think the new 1800 is a slow bike, think again... I hit 116, he was going faster and still had more pull....

I think I'm sold...

Now that the holidays are over and I am back to working 57 hours a week, the frequency of my check-ins will be slightly diminished. However, I did manage to get a ride in today!

It's a beautiful day, around 63 F, and slightly cloudy. Really a perfect day to go riding.

Lake Casitas in the background. 63F and perfect. I'm 130 miles into a ride today. Good, moderately paced day. :)

Its been a complicated week.....

I get teased a lot by my mechanic for always carrying a bunch of tools with me, along with a bunch of spare parts. One of the spare parts I insist on having with me is a spare master link for my chain. Well...

I managed to put it on, right there, and be on my way....

But it turns out the master link was from another chain, and was slightly too small...

So I used my gorilla hands and strength (my mechanic calls it that because I'm CONSTANTLY snapping bolts from overtightening them, so much so that I use a torque wrench for WAY too much stuff) and some vice grips and squeezed it on there, then hobbled to a shop where they let me use a dremel to ever so slightly enlargen the holes to make it fit properly

Then on Friday, the engine in my van seized up. So now its dead....

And I haven't slept in 3 days.....

Beautiful! I was beginning to wonder where you were off to. Saw my first Wing of the season on the freeway this morning. 27 degrees, and very salty roads, but the snow is melting fast... Enjoy the ride!

Where are all the wildflowers? This year in the Southwest they're spectacular. Happens like this usually about every 10 years. We had a lot of rain...for us.
