I thought all the runs were in the middle of the week, Tues-Thur. which I could make but I need the week-end before the week-end after to get there and back.

Its hard to plan an event that works for everyone. We have done middle of the week events and I think we have done weekends before, too. The dates on this are in part to Skydogs schedule, who is a member in Rapid City SD and is crucial to being able to pull this off. Theres no reason there couldn't be an early bird contingent if someone was wanting to work on that. You know you got to come when you can and leave when you have to.

I wouldn't know where to start. Is there a user's manual or checklist of "things to do" to organize these? I probably have a general idea, but am certain there are massive gaps in that vague notion.

it usually takes someone who lives in the area, who has the lay of the land and, can research good places to eat, hotels, motels, campgrounds, rides etc. There is no handbook, that I know of. It is not only about the riding, but a place members can interact with each other etc.

This year we had the first SOHC get-together in Dolores, Co. at Dolores River Campground.
http://doloresrivercampground.com/
The place is awsome, one of the best campgrounds I ever stayed at. My wife approved of the bathrooms and showers .......and that's saying something.
The guy who arranged it all looked all around that area of Colorado, including Durango, and ran into one problem or another 'til he found this place. The area is gorgeous and this campground can't be beat.

I'm actually familiar with the riding in that area. Lots of great riding but could be a little long. Cortes has a few restaurants but last time I was there was in 2005 or so I'm not sure what's available now. Mesa Verde is real close, so is Durango and the Million Dollar Highway (US550). We just need someone local to organize it.

I've done some riding in that area as well. Durango is a great base location.

I have been a member here for seven years now and have attended I think, at least one of these events every year. Every one of them (NGW SUPPORTED) were in the middle of the week!
What I am saying is; if any Run cannot follow suit, then it should NOT BE NGW SUPPORTED.
