The Slimey Crud Run!

#1

Post by Track T 2411 »

The very unofficial official start to the Wisconsin riding season, The Slimey Crud Run, will take place on Sunday, May 7th, starting in Pine Bluff, WI.
https://www.slimeycrudrun.com
It's virtually in my back yard, and although it started as a 'cafe racer' run, you will find an example or three of nearly any make, model, and year of bike, bone stock, home built, to all out custom, and everything in between. It is also the most wacky, disorganized mess of a run I've ever seen, lol! Check out the website for more info, and if anyone's interested in attending, PM me and see if we can meet up at some point. I will say that in the past, GoldWings have been under represented, so let's see if we can't change that!

I want to thank Todd, he hosted a great ride, Friday night I got home back in Racine after helping the Condo people get the docks in. My wife started trying to talk me out of going because of the cold weather, it got down to 34 that night and was 43 when I left a little after 8.00am. I told her I would ride to the highway (I-94) and see how I was doing. And I was fine ( was more over dressed in layers ) I got to Pine Bluff where the ride started and by cell phone was able to find Todd and his crew. There was bikes and people everywhere, and what a showing of every model and make. Lots of garage built and pro built café racers. and older restored bikes, even some unrestored rough bikes but running good. I saw a good dozen of older 650cc Triumph's I am in the middle of getting a 66 Triumph and 68 engine mostly a parts bike, a 20 footer. It will look great from a distance and as you get closer you see different year parts not correct. but it is a rider, I saw 4 beautiful Triumph's the same thing from IL. Bikes fro IL. IA. and MN. were there. I had no idea what a beautiful area I was in, and the roads, wow twist and turns, You start in a valley with hills all around you, farm land, wow wonderful county roads for those of you that don't know, all our county roads are paved in WI. We took the long way to Leland and enjoyed the country roads. It was more a bike show of bikes you haven't seen in years,
They do this ride twice a year, spring and fall first Sunday in OCT. And the fall run is usually better weather, but this is Wisconsin and weather can change any time.

We had a great time! It was fun to walk through the many, many bikes, of all shapes and styles. This year was the largest number of bikes I've seen, but hard to estimate.

Crud sunday is just around the corner. Several of us are attend'n. Based out of Richland Center Saturday. I won't be on my Cxs500P trike. Still have a weak fork spring problem.. either spacers..or perhaps a donor Cx Silver wing..which I think has a stiffer front end..?.. plus twice stoppers. :)

Cool! I'm hoping to go, but may be hooked into motorcycle shopping with my daughter and her husband. I'll know more in the next couple of days. I'd be up for a meet-n-eat for breakfast, or whatever!
