I'm finally dropping the tired and dead engine out of my 78 and stealing the engine from the 79. Interesting disaster inside that right cylinder head. Near as I can tell the valve cracked, jammed against the cylinder, causing the belt to slip a cog, and after that there was nothing left to do but offer requiem. I haven't pulled the head, easier to pull the motor.
Hope to put it back on the road tomorrow with a motor with half the miles, tuned with new belts. And if I can't do the work as fast as I'd like, I'll bring the Guzzi.
Also, just to get Bud and me ready, the temps up here are in the 90's with 85% humidity today and tomorrow.
Bud's coming down to meet me at my daughter's in Ivanhoe and we'll take the King's Road (Hwy 75) south early Monday morning.

Spent the morning changing the oil, wiring up the auxiliary power supply for my Lady, and mounting a set of highway pegs. All this would have been done Thursday had I not had to deal with the rear shock swap. Finally loaded and took off about 3:15 PM. Landed in Davenport Iowa just before 8 PM. YEEHAW!

Looking forward to seeing your work on Josie! My bike looks like this tonight. Guess I'll bring the Guzzi.

first I found the thermostat switch was not working on the 1200... when I went to pull the boot off the wires broke off.... so it now has a handy-dandy switch on the fairing

yesterday discovered the thermostat switch in the 79 is not working  .... maybe I can salvage a switch from somewhere or hot wire it to a separate switch

I will be getting into St. Louis between 4 & 6 this afternoon and checking out the Drury Inn-St Louis Collinsville. That's close to where they have there breakfasts.

CYBORG and I took the ferry boat from Muskegon Mi to Milwaukee this morning and then 'slabbed it' to Springfield IL where we are holed up for the night.
Plan to make it the rest of the way tomorrow so should be in Eureka Springs around supper time unless plans change.

Jeanne has to work overnight tonight so I guess I will have to trailer the bike again even though Eureka Springs is in easy riding distance. Don't want a cranky wife, maybe she can catch a nap in the car on the way there.

In Eureka Springs washing my clothes.
4 days of nasty weather. It's cloudy here but not to worry I used up all the rain.
1st time I've ever been early to anything I think.
