2016 Florida Winter Run .... April 26-28, 2016

Post by wog »

Putting together a winter (after the 2015 holidays) get together here in the St. Pete/Tampa area.
Could also be early spring if that helps with the weather for those wanting to ride down.

Daytona Bike week is March 4-13th and it's the 75th Anniversary.
I did Daytona BW many years ago, and for me it's one of the been there done that rides so I wouldn't be going, but it would be fine to tie into those dates.

I'm thinking maybe plan a few rides around the area, down the beach, etc. :crosso

Can have a NGWClub party here at my shop. party2
Unfortunately, can't have camping here as my landlord won't allow it, but I can help with lining up camping/hotel possibilities.

I know of one motorcycle rental company (Harley's, Goldwings, others) in Orlando if you'd like to fly in there and rent a bike.

Tampa (TPA) is the large airport that serves the area, and St. Pete airport (PIE) also has passenger flights on Allegiant airlines.

Let me know dates/time frames that would be good for you and I'll set up a poll to determine the final dates. I'm open for almost anytime, weekends and weekdays.

Note: This is not a NGWClub sponsored event.

EDIT:

The central meeting place will be at the hotel...

I for one would be interested in this. Depending on the weather I would probably ride down. I am set up for winter riding on my 1800 but I haven't done much in the last couple of years.

I might could play in this. Depends on how finances hold up through deer season and the Holidays. Parents will be at their house in St Cloud from about the first of the year so I have a place to stay.

Maybe schedule for March 1st - 3rd, 2016?
That would be the days before Daytona BW.

There are a couple local campgrounds,
https://public.co.pinellas.fl.us/parks/ParksMain.jsp
http://koa.com/campgrounds/st-petersburg
but they fill up quick during that time (springbreak).
The KOA does have cabins, although, seem to be as much as staying in a hotel.

Or thoughts on scheduling it later, maybe first of April?
Great to keep these old 'Wings flying on down the road.

Depending on the dates, I might make this. We were planning on visiting my son in St Pete and he just happens to have an extra bike sitting in his garage. Not a wing, but a bike none the less.

I prefer to ride my wing naked, thank you
My wife asked me "How many bikes does one man need?" My answer "Uhhh.just one more"

I believe I could do this. April suits me better as well. I'm expecting a bunch of freeloaders thru the winter. April gives me a chance to give them the boot.
