Coast to Coast for the Brits, 1k for me

Image Here is the hack with the sign I made. I'm all packed and ready to meet Dave Morgan, Frank, and the two Brits, Alex and Martin, in Ukiah, to ride to SF. Dave and Frank put together a pair of KZ1000 police bikes for them to ride coast to coast, and then ship to the UK. Frank rode his new to him Kawi Drifter, and Dave also rode a KZ1000.Image This is a pic of us at the Golden Gate overlook...

Image Since I had local knowledge, I led a little around the surrounding area; this is at the Marin Headlands where we ran into a Santa Rosa Policebike training ride. These guys were fun and we parked all the police bikes together for this photo op. More later...

No doubt this will be the last long ride for me; between my back, knees, and bone spurs in my right hand, I can't go longer than about an hour without stopping to stretch and shake things out. I feel like I was holding the group back a little, especially in the twisties, and I couldn't walk around the City because the pavement kills me... :( .....but the new engine did great! Even running down the 101 in 103 heat yesterday, it was running normally. I got about 35mph on that stretch at 65mph, which I think is good considering how much stuff was packed in the sidecar. The only issue I had was hitting an unavoidable pothole while doing 60, nearly flying off the hack, and losing a chrome trim piece from the sidecar running light. The stem head bearings that I installed before the ride also got a little sloppy, but I'll get to those tomorrow..

Thanks guys..it was fun, despite old age woes. The trip for me started with camping at the Scottish Games in Pleasanton, Ca. with my family, where we had the Bruce Family International tent in the clan area. Had a great three days before I took off to No.Ca. to visit with friends and family. Image
We also ran into our old friend John Kelly, who played at our wedding 24 years, 11 months ago....
