Monoshock

#1

Post by Briphcook »

Hi Guys, got myself another GL1100 . Its an 80 to basically play around with and my minds set on going monoshock. Done a search through the forum but not much comes up on the subject, which i'm very surprised about. One build that i did manage to find was called KRBobber from 2009. This is pretty much what i'm after except i'll be keeping the stock carbs and removing all the back frame.
1st question is, does anybody know what rear shock he used on this build. Seems like all the other info is there except that one important bit.

I've tried that and get basically nothing except you telling some other bloke you're dismantling it.
You say there's a write up of the build but I can't find that anywhere either.

Still don't really find anything on "Raptor" . Found out its a Virago shock but nowt else.
Plus it doesn't answer my actual question on the KRBobber shock.

Here’s what Cyborg did to beef up his swingarm. He then slotted the tank to accept the swingarm to his upper frame. I did similar but used tubing around the swingarm. There was a reinforced swingarm available aftermarket for 1000’s which used tubing and a ladder of supports. The 1000 can be twisted with bear hands.

Mine rode awesome using a Suzuki M109 monoshock. It did have a lot of travel and would hit the seat sometimes with the wife on back. Trying to make it better and add the pro-links I screwed something up and wrecked it. Ended up going with straight 1100 shocks set back a bit for a lower ride.

I have pics buried somewhere.

That's OK, I kinda realised they had nothing to do with the subject.
Still nobody seems to know anything about the shock on the KR Bobber. I've bought one off a Fazer 1000 now. See how that works...or not
