Re: New paint time!
Very nice job. The colour looks great as does the paint application. Gives me incentive to do some paint work on my extra set of plastics ob my 78. Paint looks really deep like they used to say back in the 60's.

Thinking about buying another set of fenders and going with paint instead of chrome...

You should definitely do that. That paint is beyond nice. Ranks among the best I’ve seen on an early Goldwing.

Re: New paint time!
Why thanks! Actually, it has a few imperfections, but the camera and the color red can make them disappear!
It was a quick 1 day job, when I had a break in my regular work supply.
Just have to find a pair of straight fenders, get the chrome blasted off, prime and paint!

Re: New paint time!
Got to work on a front fender. Bought a cheap one from eBay, rusty.
Sandblasted, then primed with an epoxy primer.
Here is the base color.
And after candy and clear!

Getting there!
Gotta figure out what tires I'm gonna run...
Running some Shinkos now, front wearing well, rear will probably be done after another trip or 2 after about 7-8k miles.

Re: New paint time!
Great job! The painted fenders will complement the rest of the bike. Agree that painted instead of chrome is much more attractive. This is the year of paint projects. Just did the front rim for my '85 Limited Edition. Cleaned the aluminum and painted the black sections with a gloss black then applied CERAKOTE MC-5100. Like the CERAKOTE product as a protective ceramic coating - goes on just like a standard automotive clear coat, but is supposed to last longer depending on where applied and only one wet coat need be applied. Wouldn't use on painted parts such as your fender, but definitely on frame parts, rims and such. No involvement with the company just impressed with its product(s).
Did the rear rim for my 1500 - all aluminum like your rims, turned out nicely, going to do the front rim as well. Used CERAKOTE MC-5100 formulated specifically for coating aluminum be it polished, vapour blasted, brushed, whatever. Only prep is to ensure part(s) are clean/grease free and washed with DAWN dish soap. Works on painted surfaces too.
Keep the pics coming, you do good work. Cheers

Thank you! I just bought the Melber wheels from wannabridin, they are all black and in nice shape. I think it will be sharp when done; one of a kind!

Just finished my front rim this morning:
Pics of the new rims?
Needs to sit for 4/5 days to completely cure/harden. The before pic was not as complementary: Rims do take a beating.Pics of the new rims?

Re: New paint time!
Your rims look great! Detail work looks tight! Might have to look at this coating!
Here mine are, and ignore the white spots! Bits of styrofoam. Wannaberidin packed the wheels well, very well! Gonna give them a good cleaning and have a look.

Re: New paint time!
Thanks. Nice rims. Fresh coat of gloss black - have to match your body panels for showroom shine. You already do a great job. CERAKOTE MC-5100 or MC-156 would be a good coating, really make them pop, even standard clear coat. I'm also thinking easier to keep clean.
