is it possible to get the radius of the rear fender to match the tire like the front one does? I think it would flow better..
5speed, good observation and it was addressed. Some time ago the fenders were "very loosely" mounted on the bike to do the photo shoot and the abnormality you are seeing was mainly due to that fender support/tail light mount that starts at the swingarm pivot and runs north to just behind the seat. Future photos will show this piece was removed and that gap corrected. Where the two rear fenders overlap/join will always have a small discrepancy in the line but I can easily chalk it off as "character"..

The new main fuse block is up front and easy to get at, but as a just-in-case, the main line that feeds it will be fused too.
-
Image
-
-
This proposed main line "maxi-fuse" back near the battery will use a very unique piece to house it, and like the Comstar wheels will be a necessary visual addition to tie in the entire bike (front to rear) once completed.
-
The item that is the focus of this posting is a vintage Transistor Ignition unit made by "WICO":
-
Image
-
-
In order to use it for the maxi-fuse housing, it will need to be gutted. This was a brutal, manual task! That old "filler" material that sealed the original electronics was really, really tough to get out of there!!:
-
Image
-
Image
-
-
To enable the unit for easy "tip-out" fuse access, some brackets and a hinge was fastened/welded to the WICO unit:
-
Image
-
Image
-
Image
-
-
Although the bike will appear vintage, a cutting edge feature such as keyless start would be nice - so a manual starter control was installed.
lolol
It's simply a lever, springs, and a foot-operated starter contact (available at any Tractor Supply outlet). Here's a shot of the finished WICO unit and the keyless start handle:
-
Image
-
-
Because this handle/feature has the potential to drain the battery, a drain reminder was also added.
-
Battery drain... sink drain... c'mon, there's a connection there somewhere!
-
Also, for those following this thread, there are just six more entries until the bike is completed.
-
Following those, there will be two additional posts and using all of this info we can expect an ETA for the grand finale' on Sunday June 23rd, 2019.

All good guesses but that mystery was a fleeting idea and will be part of tomorrow night's post!

Honda used a coolant overflow container in their Goldwings and hid it under the shelter cover. Without a shelter cover, the coolant overflow container on this bike will be exposed. A glass bottle works and is easy enough to find, so it's really all about creating its holder.
-
In digging through the "parts that time forgot", a pair of wire wheel center caps were found. These will do!! One needed to have its center cut out so the bottle neck would protrude up through it:

-
-
The right side downtube is the closest place to the radiator's overflow outlet so mounting it there makes the most sense:

-
A vintage Hamilton Beach emblem should feel right at home mounted on that overflow bottle:
-
Image
-
-
Getting that emblem to stick to the bottle is quite easy to do. The backside of the emblem, and the outside of the glass sands easily using 180 grit sandpaper and this will give the glue something to "bite" into:

-
And the finished result looks great! Check out that vintage weighted bottle stopper/dispenser atop the overflow bottle!

Build done? Nope - but there's not many posts left before it is!!!!!!!!!!!

You’ve got to leave some of the details out, you’re going end up encouraging hoarders!

Looking forward to the “finish.”
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Dang, This is fun to watch. I love your creativity. The original owner, whoever it may be, has to be dazzled to see his dream in the hands of a kindred soul.
Goldwings don't accelerate, they gain inertia.

1978 GL1000 - almost stock - needs a head replaced, parts are ready to install!
1979 GL1000 - Winter project/parts bike - custom "Busted"
1983 GL1100 Standard- raised from the dead and back to organ donor status
And the newest acquisition, 1979 XS 650F to be a sidecar tug. crossy.gif

5speed - that little car has an incredible story... I have a build competition thread located on another site and I'll post a link after this Goldwing story closes.. Stay tuned!
