Replacement GL1100 gagues

#1

Post by Space_Cowboy »

Hi All!

This is my first post to the forum, I've been lurking here for a while in search of cool naked goldwing projects and inspirations. Finally I had a question, Has anyone replaced/ updated the ~ 1982 gl1100 goldwing gauges to non OEM/ standard gauges? I'm looking for something that I can put in the top case or something under the bars instead of that big blocky gauge cluster stuck on top of the bars. I'm looking for modern gauges I can find in store or gauges from other bikes I can find online.

I'm a college student so money is limited and to make matters worse I'm a total newbie when it comes to working on motorcycles so simpler is better.

Any advice is appreciated, pics are welcome!
(Please don't try to convince me to keep the stock gauge cluster)
Thanks!

Hey, welcome to the club. Lots of guys have put on new or different gauges. I'm sure they will be along soon to help. Good luck with it.

Thanks! I'm more-so looking for advice on any compatibility issues with aftermarket gauges and a gl1100, as well as tips on where to look for said gauges. I'm not gonna give myself credit for being the first person to think of doing this xD

On my 75 I've done both mini gauges with LED indicator lights and now an Acewell digital. I would think the majority of aftermarket gauges could be made to work, it is just the wiring that needs to be figured out. Keep in mind that if you are replacing the entire gauge cluster with an all-in-one aftermarket unit, you will need to pay attention to whether the fuel sensor and thermostat switch are compatible.

I'm buying an 82 standard this month and I'm not saying the current gauge cluster is bad, it's just not to my liking.
