Re: 1982 Interstate Drag Queen
I lost my temper, not something I usually share publically, I didn't care for her tone. You know what I'm talking about, once they start with that whining, good lord they can be so frustrating. Well guys, she was asking for it. Initially I pulled the mesh and glass from her silencer but that wasn't enough, she just kept up with that grating whining nag, so out came the sawzall and bye bye silencers. I cut them just after the weld and then gave the edges a smooth finished look.

Re: 1982 Interstate Drag Queen
The rear brake is sticking now. I had to pull over and release the fluid pressure on 3 test drives. I've bled it countless times. I either jacked up something with the caliper rebuild or the master cylinder needs rebuilt. I installed new pistons a SS braided brake line and used the All Balls rebuild kit. 17lbs, 22lbs and 22lbs for the torque settings. The rear wheel has never really spun very free, not like I think it should anyway. I'm confident the rear wheel bearings are bad but this is more than bad bearings. After I bleed the brakes and reinstall the reservoir cap the rear wheel spins as freely as it ever has. A few pumps on the brake and the wheel gets noticeably harder to turn. Drive her a bit even without depressing the rear brake and the pads start dragging. I'm thinking the rotor may be warped now as well. I heated it up good the first test drive. When I hand spin the tire it feels like there may be areas with less tension.

You're not done yet.
Rebuild that master cylinder, too. That's most likely caused by a plugged orifice in the master cylinder casting. < the "spooge hole."

Re: 1982 Interstate Drag Queen
Yeah, why didn't you rebuild the master cylinder at the same time you did everything else? As stated, the job isn't done yet. The return hole in the master cylinder is very small so make sure you have it clear before putting it back together.

Re: 1982 Interstate Drag Queen
I'm afraid this is going to take a bit more than a rebuild kit. The circlip appears to be bonded to the washer. I haven't been able to move it at all. The corrosion is extensive. Its soaking but I doubt it is salvageable. Any suggestions on a better performing more modern replacement?

Re: 1982 Interstate Drag Queen
The soak was successful. Before work I stumbled down to my bench and a little persuasion opened it up. Looks good inside. I'm still open for suggestions on a modern replacement. I'll post a few pictures when I get home this evening.

I've seen other posts about using an 1800(?) rear master cylinder. Not done it myself, but you might try a search.

Nice work so far. The thread title had me wondering if you were talking about a 36 year old cross dresser soliciting at a highway rest area though . . .

Re: 1982 Interstate Drag Queen
I used a master off a 1800. Pretty straight forward for an 80-82 1100. heres the link...viewtopic.php?f=24&t=44934Track T 2411 wrote:I've seen other posts about using an 1800(?) rear master cylinder. Not done it myself, but you might try a search.
