Is this a Keith Wright Bike

#1

Post by sanyarcosean »

Hello All, Its been way too long!

I had a chance to buy this bike 5 years ago and couldn't because I lost my job. Its back on the market now and I was wondering, Is it a Keith Wright Bike? I like it regardless. :-) Non-running what would be a fair offer for it?
Thanks in Advance ! Image

I looked at some of the other threads with known Keith Wright frames, I don't think this one is. Looks like a fender and tank transplant, but not a KW frame. Having said that, I could be wrong !!

I was going to agree with Brandt, but the pic does make it appear that the horizontal seat tubes just behind the tank are sloped downwards. Normally they run parallel to the horizontal tubes under the tank shelter. That doesn’t make it a Keith Wright frame, but says it’s been modified to a lower seat height. A quick look at the bottom of the page shows them having shocks and hard tails. Some were bobbers, some not. See Sunnbobbs thread viewtopic.php?f=9&t=33417
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

I'm pretty certain that's not a KW frame, although there's been some modifications. Most obvious are the tank, rear fender, and entire front end swap. Looks like the frame welds have been cleaned up and tabs removed as well. As far as the rear of the frame being modified, I think the camera angle and some lens distortion makes it look like it, but comparing the photo to my bare frame, I'd say no... my 2 cents.
As far as value? Non-runner, sitting outside for ??? years, working on/fixing someone else's mix -n- match... hard to say. If the bike 'speaks' to you, it's worth what you want to pay.

It would be cool if it was ,but even if it isn't a KW, get it and make your own.
It's certainly has got your attention.
$$ ? Set a limit and keep it cheap. You'll be putting money into it.

Price wise, the great thing about GoldWings... They're just GoldWings, so you should get it cheap! It's the unfortunate side when you fix everything up and want to re-sale it. But with it not running and if the person doesn't know what they have... $500? At most $700, especially with it not running!
