What part of the world are you in where the pines are spreading pollen already?

Looking forward to your photos...

South Mississippi, near Hattiesburg.
We have been having an early spring for about a week and a half.
Last night the temps were in the 30s and this afternoon, in the 60s. :-D
Next week, temps in the 70s. All week. Gotta love it! crossy.gif
My "shop" is outside under one of those 10'x20' tent "garage". Actually 2 of them set in a " t" formation. So when it rains, as it tends to do here, I can still work. But when it is cold...
Next week is "riding time". The bikes should be ready. I know I am! :-D

OOPS! That first one is on the Sonnyboy build.
It also has the Holley-Weber setup but with sink drain tubes as runners.

These spark plugs came out of Cosicud:

Well I'm jealous of your weather and early spring. We just received over 20" of fresh snow in this last storm, another storm Tuesday is coming.
Here in The Pine Tree State, our pollen is dropped in late April.

We do not get much snow here. 3 whole inches this last winter.
Not lower than 23 degrees F. :orange
I can take the heat, not so much the cold. Old age setting in !?! lolol

I think we got to a low of 33 this Winter.

Nice work on both machines!

Thank you! It only becomes "work" when it starts costing more money! lolol lolol
Experiencing a "rain delay" today. :(
"Work" commences tomorrow, to replace the 1-3 head on the Sonnyboy bike because of the #3 exhaust valve issue. No hill for a stepper! :)
Should, barring any unforeseen circumstance, be running just before quitting time. :orange
We shall see...

In the meantime, it seems that there was residual residue in the Cosicud $15 carburetor causing massive flooding bordering on the dreaded hydrolock.
Got that taken care of before anything bad happened.
Also, those old BMWr100 bars were pitting badly and were just, well, you know, in need of replacing. So, this is what she is wearing, currently.

The jury is still out as to how they feel while riding. crossy.gif
Oh, and by the way, they did not cost much, but they did put me "over the top" of my $1000 bike build.

Sometime ago, I purchased a kit trailer from HF to pull behind my Valkyrie. Modifications were made (of course!) to make it not as wide. I also put one on those plastic clamshell carriers on it.
I had it for several months when, in the mail, I received a letter from HF stating that the LED taillights were defective. Something about a ground, or ??? :IDTS: And they were going to send me a new set.
COOL!, I thought. Got them. Now what? They stayed in a box until I decided to do something with them. As you might know, I just happen to like the large "lunchbox" of a taillight on my bike, as it comes from the factory.
So, I thought, maybe I could do some more modifying! :-D
After opening them up, I found that the LED lights are encased in some tough epoxy (?) but were on a circuit board that would fit just fine inside that "lunchbox"! :orange
So, I used my trusty Clymers manual to see what color wires were to be used. Took the circuit board arrays out of their original containers and then removed the taillight lens from the bike. I removed the original bulbs from their holders on the bike and removed the glass from the metal base of the bulbs and soldered the wires to the inside of those bases. That way, the LED arrays would just plug in like regular bulbs. No wire splicing! dancr
I used a hot glue gun to fill the insides of those bases to help secure the wires and also fasten the LED arrays to the brake light lens. The HF lights also had a tag light in the set and it was also hot glued to the bottom of the array. Sounds like a mess, but it really looks neat and it is bright!
And, yes, pictures to follow. And it only took about an hour to do.
So, that is what I did to my wing yesterday. Today it rained.

Tomorrow is our monthly meeting of our local m/c club. The Recycled Motorcycle Club. :crosso
And again, pictures to follow.

Hi there!
Here we go again.
I just cannot seem to let things be as they were. (can you tell? :8) )
So, today I removed the Holley-Weber progressive two barrel carburetor, and installed (inflicted?) a Holley 94, also known as a Holley 2110.
Back in the day, I used this type of carburetor on the VWs that I built for off=road. They really made a big difference in power. :orange
Of course, there are mounting issues, throttle linkages to engineer as well as clearances to cure. Not to mention any issues with the carb itself. After all, these things were made for cars built in the forties and fifties in some form or another. Flathead Fords, Lincolns, and some Ford trucks. The later versions were called Bugspray for use on the VW.
It had a four bolt baseplate, while mine, an earlier one, has a three bolt baseplate.
These carbs are also popular with the hot rod crowd. Used in threes, they are called "Tripower" setups.
The main reason for the change on my bike, it was rubbing hard on the fuel inlet and I just did not trust it to not leak sometime in the future. Mind you, it was not leaking "yet", but I like peace of mind knowing that something I did to the bike would not cause it's demise. (fire due to a fuel leak) :IDTS:
In the pictures that follow, you might notice that I had to make an adapter plate to mount the 3 hole baseplate to the 4 hole manifold. I also had to create a 90 degree turn of the throttle cable using an existing hole in the frame and a skateboard wheel. I only use stuff that I have. Retirement tends to restrict purchases. :orange
Some may say that it is "Red Neck engineering" or "Micky Mouse", but, you know, it works.
You be the judge. I do however, have to purchase an air cleaner, since I am "fresh out" of air cleaner making materials. :|
Anyway, here is what it looks like:

I encourage your comments, suggestions, and questions, as always. :orange
Now for the all important test ride. I promise a full report. crossy.gif

Road report: after changing carburetors (see previous post) and going for an extended test ride, I feel that the power has indeed been increased. The difference being like a sandwich and a buffet. action1
I also discovered on my ride that the rear tire is out of balance. Did not notice it before. Maybe I was too caught up in just being able to ride after a cold winter. :orange
It won't take long to fix. :)
This bike is getting better and better. (imo) dancr

Also, during one of my forays to research stuff, I came across a website that we all might be interested in: http://www.MCrider.com.
Loads of bike riding info and tips. Check it out!

Looks smaller than the previous carb but two barrels working all the time? I googled it for cfm and found firefights about how much it flows and that were quite a few sizes available.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

I'm enjoying this thread of yours. Still very interested in your carb set up, I like the "skate board wheel" to route the cable over. Great way to reduce stress of the cable.
