Re: Cosicud build, a restomod
Ericheath, yes, two holes full time. When you open the throttle, it just almost immediately takes off. I really have to be ready to go. The Holley 94 is mounted with the throttle shaft inline with the bike, so in order to make the throttle cable do what I wanted it to do, it had to make a 90 degree bend. It was crazy simple to do. I just used parts that I had on hand and put it all together in the space of an hour. And again, it rides like a new bike.
Rode 50 miles yesterday without a glitch.
Today, I hope, to do it again.
Ride safe, y'all!

Re: Cosicud build, a restomod
Went 125 miles yesterday on the orange bike. Just for grins, I opened 'er up (don't tell anyone!). Well, 85 came up quicker than I like. Might need to get one of those earlier speedos. The ones that go to 125 or so.
Nah.
At 55 mph, she just wants to go faster.
I will just stick to the speed limit. But getting there....that is the fun part.
Let me just concentrate on making it better.
Sometimes I find myself standing there looking at it, wondering "what to do next".
Why can't I leave it alone?
Might just ride the darn thing.
Ride safe, y'all. Not too fast!

Re: Cosicud build, a restomod
Hi folks! Well, as promised, I was finally able to install stainless braided brake lines. What a difference! No more rear brake drag due to the swelling internally of the old rubber lines.
Full, hard pedal. And so much easier and quicker to bleed. Same for the front lines as well.
These were purchased from Apex Brakes through eBay. They are top quality.
I will get more of these for my next project.
My next project? An '83 gl1100.
More about that in another post.

Re: Cosicud build, a restomod
Just finished reading thru this build thread as I am home due to pink eye. Boss says stay away till I'm not infectious, so I'm here getting caught up on the NGW threads.
Even with the pink eye, your orange build looks terrific. Reminds me of the Johnny Cash song 'One Piece At a Time' but, unlike Johnny's car, your bike came together beautifully - the Valk seat, external alt., the 2bbl carb mod, headlight ears mod., etc.
Giving you a big thumbs up from Houston, well done!

Re: Cosicud build, a restomod
Hey Hakmut, could I ask a quick question? Back in post #70, you showed a tail light assembly you converted to LED's. Which Honda motorsickle was that light originally attached to? The reason I ask is that I need to replace a badly cracked taillight lense on my CBX. I know that it shared a light with several models of that era, but was told that there were subtle differences. Although I'm not an originality purist, I actually would like to get one that's "correct".
If a lens (or anything) says "CBX" on the ad, it seems the price can sometimes triple. Like as much as $50 for a nice CBX lens. The entire assembly can go as high as $150! That one you showed is a dead ringer for what I need...

Everything except for the carburetor is Honda. Tail light is '81 gl1100 with the Harbor Freight trailer light led arrays hot glued inside.

Re: Cosicud build, a restomod
Lately, I have been getting a carburetor flooding scenario. "What the heck!?!"
There is a fuel filter between the tank and pump, already. And it does not seem to be loading up with junk. My fuel tank is lined with Redcoat. Done a couple of years ago.
Ok then. Off with the top of the carb. Rust in the bowl!???
I do know that some folks do not have "ordinary" problems. My problem seems to be a corroding fuel pump. So, I just swapped the fuel lines. The one with the filter is now after the pump, but before the carb. No filter from the tank to the pump. We will just run with that setup for a while, just to see...
New fuel pump? $93 at 4into1.com
They have other Honda parts also.
Ride safe, y'all!

Re: Cosicud build, a restomod
Do you have a 1200 fuel pump (elec) or 1100? You can only run to about half a tank without it. Yours might be less with the bowl(s) where they are.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Re: Cosicud build, a restomod
I am running the original '81 gl1100 fuel pump. The electric pump is waiting.
Meanwhile, the bike runs great. Now.

Often there is a bunch of rust debris in the fuel pump. It would be worth a look if you haven’t. Pull the six screws and check under the diaphragm.

Will do. Preventive maintenance is always a good thing.
New project: '83 gl1100 Interstate. Complete. Been in storage 10 years. Just going to clean her up, replace fluids, belts, tires, and ride!

Re: Cosicud build, a restomod
Hi all! Been riding the Cosicud as often as possible. No more issues with the rusty fuel pump or anything else on the bike. Loving it!
Been restoring my '83 lately. Funds are in short supply (comes with being retired). Not going for the glitz and glam. Just going for the old reliable route. Comfy, casual, with radio (aftermarket with aux, sd, usb, am/fm, no drives). Full dresser.
Not much into the bike, so far, moneywise.
No paint job. Well, maybe some clearcoat.
Brake rebuild kits and new tires next month.
Time consuming little things to do in the meantime. You know, stuff that doesn't take $$$.
Pictures "may" be forthcoming, if requested.

Re: Cosicud build, a restomod
Had a great experience. Had a great time.
Today I sold my project bike to a man in New Orleans.
I know that he will make it even better.
Why? He has, what you might call, disposable income.
'Nuff said.
Movin' on!
