Wow! That Kawasaki tank that Buli posts above looks good on the 1200 Standard. Looks like the KZ1300 tank. I think it's the squared off lines that go well. That's why Don's direction (recent ideas) are aesthetically pleasing. Those industrial squared lines just work.

Re: Swissitalian 1200 custom bike
The bottom line of the tank is so that just as much of the frame can be seen as the seat. That's why there's a different level on the tank-seat. But if I extend the seat line, then the tank is higher and chunkier. Or maybe a little bit of Bol d'Or? I had a headlight of the Citroen 2cv. But I do not like it, it fits not that good.

BigDave, on your bike the tank is above the carburetor. It looks like you still have the fuelpump connected? Did you try without it?BigDave wrote:Looks like a really clean one, maybe do something like this!

Re: Swissitalian 1200 custom bike
When I first started following this thread I wasn't wild about the bare bones frame showing. But the more the build went along it grew on me. And now that your adding a top mounted tank, which I thought it needed to look right I don't care for it as much. I like the round tank mounted under the seat the best. My other thought is an aluminum tank mounted under the frame above the engine. It would require relocating some of the electrical and engine removal to install. It would probably have to be two tanks, one on each side but would leave the frame exposed and give it that bare look your after. Just my two cents worth, keep up the great work

Re: Swissitalian 1200 custom bike
DUGG, thanks for the feedback. To show the bare bones frame was my original idea that I followed. But I was later disturbed by the high tripple tree in comparison to the continue of the bare bones frame. I will probably build a multi-variant motorcycle. The round fire extinguisher tank under the seat is the „simpleste“ build and actually ready for immediate use. The whole electronics is already hidden under the back bone frame, so I can leave it that way (with a tank under the seat), mount a tank variant or just a fairing. Greetings from Vienna Austria with another variant.

I really like this pipe idea if you could get rid of the metal sidesDonGold wrote:Gas tank made of two steel pipes...

If I get rid of the metal sides, the frame must be included in the tank design and the gap that arises. I try on it. One more variant, with a smal tank in the frame. Happy New Years.
