Re: All it needs is a battery and maybe a carb clean
Probably not ideal. Would look better with a smaller tach beside it! But it is easy to read where it is, nice and smooth needle. I am still not crazy about the headlight either but unless I decide to keep it, I probably won't make any more changes. Hope to get the turn signals on this week. I have them but the ones for the back need sandblasting (chrome) and paint. Front ones are ready to go on. I have a pattern for the seat as well but waiting on a customer for my CB750 Rat!

Regarding the seat, I really like the way Buli modified his and plan to have an upholsterer use his as a model.

Re: All it needs is a battery and maybe a carb clean
The long awaited seat arrived yesterday.
The timing coincided with a "bike night" in a nearby town that I often attend. As it turned out all the regulars drove their cars in anticipation of rain. I couldn't resist the opportunity to show off the bike and so rode in. No rain and a nice ride to the gathering. Unfortunately as soon as I left to come home the bike lost power and acted as though it was running out of gas in spite of a nearly full tank. Apparently either a plugged fuel filter or failed fuel pump. Fortunately my wife was following in the car so I was able to park at a local John Deer dealer and hitch a ride home for the trailer. On the bright side, much better to have this problem while close to home (ten miles) and with my wife along to take me home instead of out on a hundred mile run somewhere by myself.

Re: All it needs is a battery and maybe a carb clean
The fuel pump was faulty and a new one arrived today. I decided to try a non-oem version this time and on someones recommendation (can't recall now) I ordered a pump from Facet, a US manufacturer. As it is configured differently, it took a bit of engineering to make it all fit, but I am happy with it so far. The bike started right up and seems to be functioning as it is supposed to. This model pump was designed primarily for marine applications though it is suitable for just about any carbureted application. Time will tell if it holds up but it seems to be well made and included a stainless steel pre filter. I just left the other gas line filter in place so it gets double filtration.

Re: All it needs is a battery and maybe a carb clean
After sorting out a problem with the turn signals, I gave ol' Cyclops a good wash and we had a photo session. So I guess that means time to put it up for sale. The windshield just had to come off as it interfered with the tach and made it difficult to get to the ignition. Looks better without it too I think.

I like the seat a lot. Does it allow you to sit back a bit farther?

Thanks guys,
cyborg, the seat will allow you to sit back quite a ways. I am 5'10", stiff of back and stiff of neck so because of the location of the pegs I still find it more comfortable to sit forward and up fairly straight.

Re: All it needs is a battery and maybe a carb clean
I’m the same height and moved my seat back, but think it needs to go forward, where Honda had it. I would like to try some adjustable rear sets, but my expectations are that it still will be too far back.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Re: All it needs is a battery and maybe a carb clean
Thanks for the response. I used to be 6'2". But my last Doctor visit says I'm 5' 10". Don't know where I lost it, but it wasn't in my legs. The stock seat on my 1200, all the way back, stock pegs, is hard on my knees.Easter wrote:Thanks guys,

would like it to go back another inch or two. But then it doesn't fit against the shelter very well. To large a gap. So short of re designing the shelter, a different seat seems to be the answer. Just exploring options at this point. It's alright for short trips, 300 miles or so. But becomes a little uncomfortable over that.. And at my age it has become a lot about comfort.

Very nice result, Easter. You sure seem to have a lot on your plate. If I may ask, what are you looking to get out this one?
