Dual purpose tires for an 1979 GL1000

#1

Post by kermit »

I am looking for anyone that has had success with finding a set of dual purpose tires that fit on a 1979 GL1000
Sizes are supposed to be 100/90-19 (No luck on this one) and the rear is 130/90-17 ( this size, I have found fairly easily)
I have not been able to find a pair with the same pattern and I really want to avoid two different types. The object is to put a more aggressive looking set of tires on the bike.
Any thoughts?

I think a 110/90 will squeeze in the front if it helps.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

heidenau K60 has a 100/90-19 and 130/80-17 rear
i think you should be able to get even wider on the front eg. 110/80-19 but then you should reverse the rotation direction because you'll be running a rear tire on the front

If you are willing to step down one aspect ratio out back to a 130/80-17, a few more options open up. Avon Trail Rider comes in a 100/90 19 and 130/80-17
1975 GL1000 - Delkevic exhaust with stainless studs, Corbin Touring seat, Race Tech Gold Valve cartridge emulators, Progressive 11-1100 springs, Progressive 412HD rear shocks, Shinko 230 tires, Fork Brace, Trucklite 27270c headlight, X-Arc Signals (run, brake, turn), Hydraulic Clutch conversion, EBC Clutch discs, HD springs, and Barnett Steels + Plate B eliminated. BikeMaster DLFP-50N18L Lithium battery, Rick's Motorsports CBR600F4 Mosfet Regulator/Rectifier upgrade.

By the way the front tire is listed as a bias construction tire with a rating of 100 MPH...I am thinking that the bike should go at least 102 MPH :) at least in my dreams ...

Well looks like I am going with a set of Shinko 705's with a 110/80-19 and 130/90-17 which came as a set so the price was worth trying out...
