Ok, you sold me. I have the Motogadget, the M button and ready to order a battery. Probably a Balistic since I am not set up for the Lithium but need a battery small enough to go in the tool try.
Bikes at present:

83 XL 600r with a 2004 XR650L engine
And a slightly worse for the wear BMW GS adventure bike awaiting repair

Since others will no doubt be curious about the Motogadget system and to keep the thread up front, I will report that my system is installed on the "Dumpster project" and working without a hitch. Quite expensive in my opinion to purchase the complete kit with M-buttons and wiring kit but very easy to work with. My bike is running but not on the road yet so it is still early but I am quite pleased with the results.
