Your avatar looks like a propeller spinner. Is that correct? What kind of plane?

Yep, it's a P-51 called Obsession. Here's another of my photos of it.

Many more photos of that aircraft here if you're interested >>https://www.flickr.com/photos/planephot ... 2651403286

My username is short for propeller aviator...I haven't flown in about 3 years due to life and other hobbies, but I'll get back into it one day.

Thanks HOTT.

Did a few more little things last night...my Hagons arrived yesterday...really, really nice. Glad I went with the 2810s.

Image

No photos of them on the bike yet, but they look like shocks :dunno:

I also redid the messy wiring under the seat cowl to get rid of the bullet connectors that kept slipping out. Thought about using a weatherpack, but I was a couple pins short of what I needed to do 5 conductors, and the parts store had just closed...WalMart to the rescue! I repurposed a 5-pin flat trailer connector and neatened it up a bit. Sorry for the crap picture, but we're good to go now.

Image

I also adjusted the clutch actuator arm. I think it was a little tight, which would explain the slipping. It was about 30* this morning, but it should warm up to around 50* by lunch, so I'll probably ride the bike back to work from lunch and see how the clutch holds up. Hopefully that's all it was...

Nice build. I've been around a build or two in my day and I gotta say I'm digging it (sorry dad lol )... Not totally sure about the look of the headlight though. It looks good.. Just not my thing.... But it's your bike... And overall I gotta give a thumbs up

Yeah, it doesn't really fit the "look" of the bike, but I'm more concerned with being able to see 100 yards down a mountain road in the pitch black of night.

That's a short clip of the headlight coming into my neighborhood late last night. Even with the brightness bumped up, the video just doesn't do it justice. It's putting about twice as much light on the ground as it appears to in that video. You can see me flick it from low to high beam a couple times too.

Plus, the LED headlight pulls WAY less current than an H4 on an already underpowered charging system.

You can run a small alternator to cover any power issues

Why would I do that when I can easily use less of the stock stator's capacity?

Haha, nah, I mean, maybe if my stator ever dies and I don't feel like immediately pulling the motor out, but I'd rather not have an alternator hanging around if I don't have to. The stator seems (knock on wood) to be in good shape. Ohms out well, charges at about 14v, all that jazz. Hopefully it holds up.

Also, is your screen name a reference to Deal's Gap?

That it is... I think I can safely say that I've logged more seat time there than anyone else in Texas
