I am curious about the 1100 motor with the early cams. Does anyone know of there's piston work needed like is needed on the 1200? Looking at future possibilities...

Anything is possible at this point but I'm thinking' if a big block Chevy doesn't empty it in 5 seconds that would be a pretty big order for an 1100?
I'm thinking the fuel supply system on a car (pump capacity, line size) can flow several times that of a Wing. You could test it with an external tank with a cheap automotive electric fuel pump, I suppose.

No piston work required. Choose between ignition on the head or on the back of the engine. If 1000 frame, that creates a space problem with frame cross member.

Since we haven't given up on the Q-jet, I bolted it on the Hot rod. Similar results to the GL,high idle and when I spray carb cleaner low down on the front of the carb I get a major stumble. I don't see anything, must be a bad gasket, maybe base plate? I put a kit in the carb before I put it on the GL so probably the wrong gasket. There are a blue million q-jets and they don't all use the same gasket. Got another kit coming maybe this one will have the right one.

I used to hate the Quadrajunk in my youth. As I've matured, I've come to respect them for what they are (were). But I'll say I never - and I mean never thought I'd see them used on a Goldwing. Very cool. Very cool indeed. I have no doubt that it's been done before, but it is as crazy a hybrid engineering project as you're likely to see. Interesting that you chose this build to run it on.

Good stuff.

I suspect the reason for all the Q-jet gaskets is all the engines they were bolted to: Chevy, Buick, Olds, Pontiac, Cadillac. All had different intakes.

Well.we got some miles on the "Tracker". About 400 troublefree miles. After the second day of riding,I almost quit looking for another gear. A 1000 final behind an 1100 with a 17" tire is really low geared! After a 100 mile run,the orange bike took 2.5 gal and the tracker took 3.3. That low gear is hard on the gas milage! It also has an oil consumption issue,it used about 2 quarts during the 400 miles. Also a carb issue, when using full throttle from 50-60 mph it kind of sputtered and wouldn't pull hard. I cut the 1100 airbox down to just enough of the bottom to mount the 1100 filter, the 1100 airbox wouldn't fit inside the 1000 shelter and I don't have a 1000 airbox. I'm not going to do anything about it just now as I still intend to put the Qjet on it. I put some different gaskets in the Qjet and it runs pretty good on the hotrod. It was good to get some miles on it with the stock carbs so I have something to compare the Qjet to. It's a real hotrod with the stock carbs,it'll pick up the front wheel in first and 2nd gear! All this was in Montana,on Wed we rode the bikes and it was a little chilly so on Thurs we took the pickup to a place called National Bison range,it's a wildlife preserve. We saw all kinds of Bison,Elk,Antelope and Deer but only one Grizzly bear. When we spotted him he was about 50 yards away next to the fence, he crawled under the fence and wandered off over a hill. Looked like maybe a 3 year old, maybe 300 pounds. Of course I left my camera here and my phone at the house up there.

That is a lot of oil.

That's the interesting part,no smoke. The guy riding behind me could smell oil and the pipes show oil but no smoke. It's leaking a little from the water pump weep hole too. Looks like a project. Now I've run it some I'll do a little project like a thorough check of the engine.

Possibly.I have that plumbed into the air cleaner per 1100 so it would have to push it 4-5" vertically and then it would go through the engine causing it to smell like burnt oil. That would take some serious blowby, should show up in a compression check. Typically valve guide/seals advertise with lots of smoke on startup, bad rings show smoke on deceleration and I have neither of those. We'll find it,just a matter if checking and eliminating stuff. Right now I'm totally immersed (literally) in painting the '51 GMC. I'm often asked if I'm painting something--blue? Answer: No,I'm a Smurf and the whitewash is wearing off. When that's over I'll return the focus to the "Tracker". I'll run the "diagnostics" and put the Q-jet back on it then. Stay tuned!

Definitely well deserved. A GL flat tracker. Who'd have thought. Very original and fun project to watch and see completed.
