I had great experiences with Cognito and their stuff is fantastic. Not cheap but you’re definitely getting what you pay for with them. Coming together great

Re: Dark GreenWing 1977
Well, I got a HUGE front fender that I will be trimming for the front end... With the front end of a CBR tire being much wider than the usual ones, I ended up buying this ribbed fender from TC bros. This fender is usually set for a rear tire, BUT here we are! Ill seriously be trimming more than half of the fender off, probably about 2/3's of it will get cut and Ill use the remainder 1/3 for the actual front fender. Wish me luck!

Re: Dark GreenWing 1977
The profile of that fender is very cool, will look great all painted up to match the rest of your bike. Have you thought about maybe using the left over part to make a matching fender for the rear? Would carry that line through the whole bike...although it's hard to tell from the photo if that would be wide enough to look right on the backcodyjames707 wrote:Wish me luck!

Oh man! I haven't though of that's, but I will definitely look into it! It would be cool to continue it to the back side! My main worry is it not being wide enough to fit the brake light that I hide under it...Hanslehoff wrote: Have you thought about maybe using the left over part to make a matching fender for the rear? Got some goodies back from powder coating! This is the big jump and a lot of the items I needed back to begin this assembling. I got the rear Henry Abe Seven Star rim, triple trees AND the intake valves powder coated. The next step... custom fiber-glass seat cowl

Re: Dark GreenWing 1977
Nothing like getting stuff back fresh from powder coat! I love assembling the new looking parts, always feels great. Parts look awesome, really going to look good on the bike.
On a related note, did they also powdercoat the inside of your valve covers? The company I used told me that was common practice so I went with it. Pulled a valve cover off today as I was replacing a bolt and seal grommet and noticed the powdercoat on the inside was bubbled. Pressed on the bubble and.... Luckily I caught this before it started flaking off on its own or that could have been a disaster, I can’t imagine that would be good floating around inside my motor. I haven’t pulled off my stator and clutch covers yet, but they were done in the same batch so will probably look the same. I emailed the company I used today to see what, if any, my options are.

Re: Dark GreenWing 1977
WOAH!!! That is pretty crazy dude! Luckily the powder-coater was really into racing motorcycles before he started the business, so he knows all the do's and don'ts! When I chromed my covers, it actually started a small leak of oil coming out and my theory is because the chrome just made the seal around it just too slick. Glad you caught that though man! That could have been a DISASTER!!!

Re: Dark GreenWing 1977
I questioned it when I got them done and the company I used assured me they do it all the time so I didn’t think twice. Glad I caught it, but no matter how it gets sorted it’s going to be a pain in the butt

I assume you were speaking of the guy who did the PC. And if so I could not agree more.

Re: Dark GreenWing 1977
So I was looking at a couple possibilities of relocating the ignition for the bike, BUT I figured let's see who it looks on the original CBR top triple tree.
Turned out that the original ignition wasn't too far off from its 2009 cousin and with miner adjustments, looked like it would fit! Drilled a couple of holes to widen it out a bit more, used a dremel to sand the top ignition casing, and BOOM! Seemed to fit perfectly! I think I will be keeping it up on the top end =)
Turned out super smooth! Not bad if I do say so myself!
