Something beautiful finally happened... I got the bike moving yesterday!

Luckily I had my buddy from so-cal helping me so it all went very quick. It began with checking the rear brake, noticing the gas was looking a little dirty and before we knew it, we tore the entire rear end apart, rebuilt the rear brake, cleaned the gas tank of rust, replaced the carbs, got new throttle and clutch cable in, and did the proper adjustments, reassembled EVERYTHING, started the bad boy up and rode it up and down the court I live in all in about 3-4 hours!

Let me tell you, I felt like a proud pops seeing this bike moving!

Here's a video of the wing in movement! :crosso

But we did find out that two spark plugs weren't going, therefore making the ride drag off 2 cylinders. So an order for new ignition coils are in place along with prepping to sand the side panels for paint!

So, we figured the ignition coils needed to be replaced. I ordered the green dyna ignition coils (3 ohms) and MANY questions came with how to install them properly...

The first question I had was... why did this set only come with 2 spark plug wires? I found out that cutting them in half and doing a little soldering on the newly cut ends with the parts that came in the packages was the answer.

Next were the ground (b&w)and power wires (blue and yellow) and which area to place them. Through several forum checks, I found the information that the placement of them does not matter, besides a b&w on each one and a blue or yellow on either. The main detail to keep in mind that plugs 1 and 3 get the coil with the YELLOW lead.

Take it vise versa that the plugs 2 and 4 get the coil with the BLUE lead.

That second one looks like the one that came along with my bike when I bought it. The bucket has the same shape at least. Good quality IMO. Glass lense and metal bucket with enough room for the honda connectors. Looks stock and of the correct vintage which was what I wanted with the build.

Edit: Sorry didn't realize how far behind I was on this build...

I like the garage paint shop, looks so similar to the setup I had when I painted.

Thanks Hanslehoff! Your bike is still one of my favorites and I have a feeling ours are going to be looking quite similar. Anytime I think, "Oh I should do this!" I look back at yours some time later and realize you have already done it! anim-cheers1

Laid down jet black paint and some yellow pin-stripping today. Clear coat is the only thing left in the paint department! The panels are not looking bad if I do say so myself! dancr

Looking great. My "dumpster" project is ready to start painting (in primer with some body work to go) and I too am looking at green to go with the gold powder coat. Looking for a really glossy dark emerald green metalic. Hope I can make it look as good as yours look.

Not quite done, but here's the sneak peak! Still need to ad mufflers, wrap the headers black, brake light, and fenders. But it is looking pretty good over here!

Good looking bike. I love that color. My 78 was that color at one time, but changed it to red after an accident, and was told it was hard to see. Still love the green

Looks good from here too. That headlight might need adjusting though!

Nice. Putting the clip-ons ahead of the fork tubes buys enough room to clear the false tank?
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.
