As a quick run down:

It turned out that there was a bent exhaust valve.

In my genius and brilliant thinking, I decided lets rebuild the engine as I have always wanted to have a go at it.

In my further brilliance (like a PhD in stupidity) i threw away a lot of parts that I thought should be replaced.

This was done without checking the availability of said parts.

In conclusion I have found all parts from various sources across the world and have been very lucky thus far.

CMSNL is a great source of parts:
http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-gl1000-gold- ... partslist/

I also found this site which contacts its database of suppliers:
http://www.uneedapart.com/used-auto-parts-request.php

The Uneedapart site actually found those transmission parts at a supplier in the US who then redirected me to their office in the UK as it would be cheaper for shipping.

In conclusion, I am a bit of an idiot. But a lucky idiot.

Hi all, just an update...

Have put the engine back together and am now preparing for a benchtop quick run to make sure it turns over.

Am hoping it will all go well.

Have attached some pictures.

Enjoy

Thanks mate, still some detail work to be done but just want to turn it over first.

The carbs need detailed painting as well.
It's getting there, I'm excited.

Agree with Cyborg, looks good. If it won't run, put it on a pedestal and sell it for sculpture.
