Pretty sure the logo is painted on and the speedo case is anodized black. I was thinking of trying a q-tip with paint remover but I’m not sure if that will wreck the anodizing. There is some text on the bottom that will be hidden by the bracket I guess I could try it on first

Dismantled the stock wheels, working on stripping the rear hub down so I can get it cleaned up. I also have to drill out the spoke holes approx 1mm to allow for the thicker gauge spokes then put in the new bearings. Pic showing how much wider the new rims are than stock

Got the bearings out of the hubs and cleaned them all up. Tomorrow I’m working on drilling out the spoke holes and then I can start lacing the new wheels. The front hub is going on my buddies CX500 (along with the complete GL front end), we’re in the process of making a lot of changes to it as well.

Powder coat stuff should be done by Friday so I can press the stem into the triple and get the front end assembled.

Got the stuff back from powdercoat. Needs a little dremel work to clean up the edges where they had stuff taped off, but other than that looks good!

I think the parts I made myself look almost factory now, which is even better than I had hoped for.

Again, I'm loving the progress! The front is Looking great! What tires are you using for the front? And has their been any thought of updating the rear end to match??

Thanks! I haven’t decided on tires yet, I’m waiting to get the rims laced so I can measure and see what widths will work. I have been thinking of upgrading the rear piggy back shocks to Ohlins but I’m not sure if I’m going to or not. Maybe next year

Love this bike and all that's going into it. Just my 2 pence worth, but I'd leave the Acewell logo. Modernizing a 70's cool bike in this way looks just right with some new tech on it. Just another eye catching detail along with the many others...

Cheers

The more I’ve been looking at the pics and looking at the bike in the garage I’m tending to agree. I’m liking the way the gauge looks on there as is
