Push button release. Obviously I can’t lock it now, but that’s ok with me. The button dropped right into the existing hole no modifications necessary. Then it was just a matter of building the bracket for the pin, drilling one hole and making sure the gas cap cleared. I kinda like it, fits in with the other black touches. I might add a brown leather tab at the bottom of the lid that matches the seat, that’ll give me something to hang onto when opening now that I don’t have a key for grip
Where did you find this button? I have been looking for a while, but haven't been able to locate it.

A buddy had ordered a few of them from eBay, not sure through who.

Here you go. I used one to repair the side panel on my wife's bike. One of the plastic mounting knobs was broken when I bought it.

Weather has been great lately so I'm starting to prepare to get the bike back out on the road. Local shops wanted around $300 to replace the fork seals, even with me bringing them the forks off the bike along with all the parts and fork oil! Ridiculous! I ordered a fork seal driver and a spring compressor for less than $100 so I will just do them myself, can't be that hard.
I have a few minor things to complete after that as well, one being mounting the Koso water temp gauge I bought

It's very small and I think I am going to mount it to the frame of the bike so it is between the shelter lid and the top triple, tucked away and not overly noticeable. For anyone interested, Koso makes a sensor that is a direct bolt on replacement to our stock unit (M14x1.5) to work with their gauges.

Looking to make a couple cosmetic changes as well. I am going to paint the front fender gloss black to match the side covers and I am also thinking of painting the center of the front rotors black. Then I’m going to look at getting the rear shock reservoirs wrapped in a matte gold metallic to match the front forks (sort of an Ohlins rip-off, I know). I feel like that will really balance the look out as right now the front end is very gold 'heavy' while the rear is almost entirely black. I made a very rudimentary low res mock up of the subtle change:

Thoughts or suggestions?

That’s a thought, or maybe powder coat them black as well. Next time the carbs need to come off I’ll decide

Built a little mount for the Koso from a plastic bracket I had in the garage. Turned out ok, not sure I love the placement but at least it’s visible and secure.

Got a few coats of etching primer on the rotors and front fender. Masking and prepping the rotors was a chore, but looks like it is going to come out nice. Rotors are getting a satin black enamel top coat tomorrow then I need to pick up some gloss black and clear for the front fender.

Also got my fork seal drive, so just waiting on the spring compressor now. With any luck I’ll be on the road next week

Hard to improve on that side profile but I think your subtle accents will work perfectly. For what it's worth, gloss black would be my choice for the carb inlets.

Oh, and by the way, it's still gorgeous!
cheers

Thanks! Next time I have carbs off I may get those intake powder coated to match the engine covers.

Rotors came out pretty good
