Thanks, that's what I was going for. Eliminating the mass of single bullet connectors from the harness has really simplified hooking things up. It takes all the guess work out of it as it's very easy to see what goes where now. Wiring wise all I have left to do is run the speedo pickup for the Acewell (still deciding on front wheel or rear) and the tach pickup to the coil wire. Went pretty smoothly all in all
Started the same on my bike. Taking the male/female connectors off and installing OEM style connectors does clean things up and makes for a better look. The other thing I've started to do is use TESA cloth anti-abrasion tape. It protects the wires and is extremely flexible unlike the vinyl black tape.

Your bike is looking good.

Cheers

Thank you. That’s a great suggestion on the cloth tape, I may copy that :-D

The Acewell is very bright blue

In an attempt to make the fuel gauge look similar, I swapped the incandescent bulb out for a pure white LED and removed the light shield from inside the gauge housing.

It’s certainly less of a yellow glow than before, but I may try and see if I can find a blue LED to get it closer. I’m aware the face plate on the fuel gauge is off center, this was just a test fit.

Drilled a couple small holes in the headlight shell and installed some rubber grommets for the wires to go through. Heat shrink and 2 pin connectors on each.

At first it wasn’t working and I thought I had a faulty unit. Turns out it needs a really good ground, once that was sorted it worked perfectly.

LED’s compared to stock bulbs and in signal

The last pic is just a screen grab from a video I took. For anyone thinking of going this route, these bulbs are extremely bright. I’d estimate twice as bright as the incandescents. Because it’s multiple small LED’s they have a bit of a different look now when they flash but overall I’m very happy with how it turned out. Now the only light on the bike that isn’t an LED is the headlight

Now that the bike is mostly assembled I also realized my steering stops weren’t going to work. The clip-ons made contact with the tank about 1mm before the stops hit. Rather than fiddle with the tank etc I decided to just build some new stops. I had some bushings the right size so I used a step drill bit to countersink a hole so the cap head screw would sit flush then installed them through the triple with loctite and a nylon washer. No more contact and looks pretty good also

The new front brake lines arrived today,
the hub should finally be back here tomorrow and my tires and tubes shipped this afternoon. I’m almost ready to get this thing back on the road! Only real building left is to figure out the front fender after the tires are mounted.

Correct hub finally made it back from Cognito, complete with spacers, bearings and seals. I’ll be lacing and truing the front on the weekend and then my new tires should be in early next week. By the end of next week I should be able to take the bike off the jack and set it on it’s own two wheels again
