Sad now even more to be missing the Eastern run. Would have loved to see her. Excellent work.

Recently picked up an english wheel for the shop.
So I'm gonna try my hand at making the exhaust shields with complex curves that I couldn't make before.
A while ago, I painted the wrap black, and I'm OK with the exhaust wrap look, but maybe just the headers.

I did leave the weld nuts on, just for this reason.

So, any body panel experts out there with tips on using the english wheel?
Especially for small complex bend parts.
Have watched a few youtubes, but they're geared mostly towards large car fender-sized parts.
Great to keep these old 'Wings flying on down the road.

... an English wheel... gotta get me one of them :orange

Actually, gotta get some part of my shop and bikes (8 by now.. don't ask how many run) to my inlaws house in Ormond Beach, then we'll be neighbors and, if there's one thing better than having an English wheel, it's having a neighbor with an English Wheel

shakehands

Come on down Doc!

Got to play with the wheel a little today.

Picked up a set of 2for$10 aluminum sheets at Sams to practice on.

Hit a portion on the buffing wheel to see how it will look.

Getting there. Need to figure out how to remove the wheel marks in the aluminum.
May change to stainless.

I've had so many problems recently starting back up on the adventure bike build I figured this is a better challenge.

Definitely older, and feeling it, hopefully wiser. Good to be back wrenching again on the bikes. Thanks again to you two bros and the others
for riding all the way down here for the Florida run. Seems like yesterday.

Don't like modifying the frame and the dual carbs wont fit side by side or front to back inside it... so...

Figured this is a better design. Carbs closer and V stacks higher.

Will need to fab some 90 degree bends but I think it will flow. Alum channel under the carb is just for support.

I think this will be a better option than the 90 degree bends.
Just prototypes from plastic, but you get the picture.

The inside hole would be cut close to the same angle that the tubing is cut. That way there's no open space on the carb side and will help with the flow.
I'll use a drag knife to cut gaskets instead of the O-ring to seal.

Same idea for under the carbs.

Thoughts?
