Hello everyone,

It continues on the bike, what did I do today?

First, I have rebuilt the pillion footrests. The beautiful ones with the Honda writing. They probably come from the Anglican area and had an inch fine thread with about 10mm width. I had then converted the whole thing to M10x1.0 and screwed. Now it looks more coherent. dancr

The footrests are indeed protruding, but the motorbike is also no lightweight.

Then I had to rebuild the side stand so that it retracts by itself. I did not want an electrical solution with any contacts . The side stand does have a rubber tongue that is supposed to push it back up when it touches the ground while riding, but that is no longer appreciated.

The GL1100 already had a spring mechanism that pulls the stand up when unloaded. So without further ado bought such a stand together with the spring mechanism and tested it. But I did not like him as well as the old. So from the 1100er stand the spring mechanism adapted to the 1000er stand. And what can I say, works. action1

And then again sample sat. Is already a nice feeling to have so much motorcycle between the legs. :crosso

Then noticed that the right rear Koni shock absorber bleeds and it smells strongly of damper oil ... so without further ado ordered two YSS shocks. I want the bike to drive decently.

Meanwhile my two Beemer had to wait in the rain until the garage is free again. I found out that the Hawker battery of the Caferacer has given up and I ordered a new battery. It will be again ne 14Ah gel battery, because it must be under the transmission.

Hello,

the rebuilding of Uschi continues slowly but surely.

What have I done this week?

I finally mounted the upper triple clamp, which was relieved by the handlebar brackets, and moved the ignition lock so that it no longer protrudes above the triple clamp.

The tachometer is intentionally a little off-center, I like it better that way.

Then I replaced the right dash, because by some mishap the parking light cable got crushed and when I turned on the ignition the cable and switch went up in smoke.

Here is a look at the triple clamp.

from the front it looks like this:

Then I continued to work on the wiring, but is still a bit to do.... on the picture above you can see my wiring harness drawings. I expand them after each activity on the harness, otherwise I don't remember what I wired and how. I cut out the whole wiring harness and redo it completely.

Then the Brembos P4 got new steel flex lines. The steel flexes for the Honda two piston calipers no longer fit. As a scuff guard, I found some nice aluminum hose holders on the net and they migrated to the front fender today.

The Brembos are currently still sitting on holders made of wood. I finally found a suitable and willing cutter to mill out the adapters for the calipers.

Here's a picture of the Brembos in the front wheel ...

I think they look delicious and together with the radial brake pump they really pack a punch. Bleeding the new steel flex lines is really easy with the Stahlbus valves.

And finally, a look at the Wing from behind. I think you can speak of a wasp waist even on such an iron pig, right?

I wanted to be much further along, but unfortunately something always gets in the way. The other day I was on the road with my old Beemer (the silver one) in the Black Forest and on the way back the rear gear oiled directly into the brake. Stupid only that this then no longer squeaks, but also otherwise stopped its service.

The cardan was knocked out and so I had to push this between. The rear gearbox unceremoniously replaced by another from a replacement motorcycle and disassembled the cardan and replaced the shock absorber. Now it runs like a young calf again. And that after 200,000 km.
But my other Beemer (the blue one) wants a new set of cylinders and pistons this winter. It smokes blue like an old 2 stroke motorcycle.

Work enough hehe...

But I haven't given up hope yet to get the Uschi on the road next year.

Greetings
Harald

Hello everyone,

I haven't done anything to the Uschi for a long time, well, other projects and my accident in September kept me away from it a bit, but today I finally made the breakthrough, the Brembo P4s now fit cleanly on the fork and have enough clearance to the spokes. The fork is not braced and springs cleanly and the wheel turns cleanly in the calipers.

Now I can have the brackets milled from the appropriate aluminum. That was my biggest problem for a long time, getting everything to fit together. Well, sometimes you just have to let time pass and then you find a solution.

Here is the bike without the fender

And I still have enough clearance between spoke and caliper. Here is the left side

The disk also runs in the middle of the caliper
Schibenlauf links.jpg

And this is how it looks with the fender. I think it looks delicious.

The sensor for the speedometer still needs a proper mount so that it doesn't tear off and doesn't hit the disk.

Slowly but surely things are moving forward with the old girl.

Greetings
Harald
