Got a few minutes in the garage tonight. Thought I'd put in my new wheel bearings and drill my rotors. The pattern I have must be for a smaller rotor. I'll have to do some guess work to get this done.

I planned to drill all 3 brake rotors last night. Only got one done. Knocking in my new wheel bearings now. Wife stopped asking years ago about things that spend the night in her freezer.

Must have lost my spanner for this job. This works fine. Too tight and you have problems later, will stake it just like the factory. Will be fine.

Didn't have the right size socket for the other wheel bearing. Started looking around for an alternative tool. Found I had the proper tool in the back of a cabinet.

Got both wheels on. Did not drill the front rotors yet. Have calipers to rebuild next.

What a great idea! I didn't have a pin spanner, and before going out to buy one I thought up all manner of complicated tool in my head that never woulda worked.
so simple
The lines on the bike are great, to me the tail is a bit high compared to the top of the tank, but with rider may look quite nice. I always prefer the tank higher than the butt so the line slopes down, so that pretty much eliminates every modern bike :-D
I didn't re-read all posts, you going with stock carbs and no plenum or something? I dig the small tank, not many GLs with custom tanks setups, nice

Thanks Hammina,

My theme for this project is the old Bultaco Astro. I usually like a lower seat too. This bike is so long, I'm hoping a little height will help.

I used to struggle with those wheel bearing retainers all the time until a gray headed guy suggested I drill out the punch dimples, since then I can take them in and out pretty easily.

Got a few minutes in the garage today, rebuilding some very stuck brake calipers.
I used to use compressed air, always ended with a finger counting exercise. Now, I learned to use a grease gun. The threaded end of the grease gun hose will go in enough threads to work fine. Pump a few times and the pistons come right out. I just use a bunch of paper towels to clean up afterwards, no finger check.

I have to say that the conversion of the 'Comstar' wheels to spokes is a brilliant idea !!...
You get all the benefits of the later hub with its disc brakes...and the good looks of the spokes...Its nice to see that he has turned his good idea into a business :-D

Got a little time today to work on the AstroWing. My day job has kept me away from it for many months.
Made some manifolds for my throttle bodies.

May I ask why you added the spacer to the water pipe elbow area on top of the head? Seems that would require raising the rest of the water pipe assembly to be raised the same amount. Otherwise the pipe is at an angle. Maybe I'm missing something.
