Hi likemike64 from greenville. Sounds like a great idea can we get the info on where to buy the spdt switch/part#; and maybe a diagram of the wiring. I know I'm not the only guy who has had a starter switch melt from adding larger wattage headlight/lights. Thanks for the compliments; your bubblebee came out nice. from Taylors
PS; do you mean a NC relay?

Re: 32/36 weber conversion
Thanks!
The original switch is a momentary double throw, single poll. It routes power from the common to one or the other of the two contacts.
The new switch I used is a momentary single throw, single poll. It routes power to one contact only. The switch I uses is the the Radio Shack cat#275-011, but it does not have to be that heavy duty. I just used it because that is what I happened to have on hand and it fit the RH control box with only a little drilling.
Buy a heavy enough relay that is a double throw, single poll, and power it with the new switch.
This is the one I used: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdet ... er=330-079. This helps with the install: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdet ... er=330-075.
The relay is a double throw, single pole. One side is normally closed, the the other side is normally open.
You want the power to go from the common through the normally closed side to the headlight so that it will be on when you are not cranking the engine.
You want the power to go from the common through the normally open side to the starter's silinoid when you press the start button.
I placed the relay in the shelter with the other electrics.
If you want, with a small modification, you can have the relay coil always hot and the push button switch operate the ground side easily.

6 year old thread. Last time Jake was here was in 2015. Don't hold your breathe waiting for a reply.
