GL 1000 cafe fighter

GL 1000 cafe fighter
within a few weeks I will startup a quick inbetween build based upon a modified frame I already build a couple of years ago to build a fighterstyled chopper.
this was my first attempt to build a roots blower on a GL1000, but because lots of things (buying a house, getting maried, birth of kids etc) it never got finished and in the meanwhile i decided to start building the hardtail with the roots blower.
Therefor this frame ended up on the ceiling and I noticed it laying around just last week again and decided to give it a new live again
the chopperstyle with the forward controls is no longer wanted by me, so I change the frame into a more sporty style.
the subframe will be grinded of as wel and I will weld on a triangle on top of the rear swingarm, to give it a monoshock.
Also the rear end will be lifted a bit more and to make it a real quick build I'm going to use the original spoke wheels from the GL1000 and brakes.
the blower intake is on this picture but will not be used, because the blower is meant for my hardtail project, so it will get regular carburation, maybe 1100's if I can find a proper set for good money.
Maybe in the far future this one can get a Turbo, but that's only allowed if the hardtail is finished first
I also put a request in Cyborg's topic, but I really could use some help with a far simplified wiring scheme. it only needs to start, load the battery and have front and tail lights.
also I'm interested in using a gell batterie so I might be able to hide it a way in the back of the bike

With that build it would be a good idea to pull the rake in some, to sharpen up the steering and get some more weight on the front end. It sure looks like you have a lot of space between the radiator and the front tire.

I'm eager to start my self too... Just to bad that I first have to finish a hardtail job on an old BMW from a friend first, but that wont take to long anymore
the current rake is original, the extra space you see is because the wheel on the picture is 17" I wil replace it by the original 19" again and lift the back more than it's original, so that will sharpen the rake eventually.
I'm sticking to the original tyres because the 19 " will bring me more ground clearance and it would be nice to have some extra (because of the lifted tail) on the dutch curvy roads
the grinder will start soon

it looks a bit high up its heels, but that's off course because of the frame is all empty.

Is a single tube strong enough to carry that load with the weakening of that radius? Looks like it should have some gussets or some bracing on it?? Don't get me wrong it looks great and I have no idea what material you are working with and if you have done an analysis but just off the cuff that looks insufficient??

At fist glance it does look that way but I bet he is going to brace it. A lot of the aftermarket sport bike arms look similar but have multiple braces added to them. Sometimes on the bottom. Having it on the top and using it as the shock mount should work pretty good.

Lots of bracketry to go yet. We'll see when he starts welding on it. There is a lot of push on that radius and on the upper shock mount. Shock force geometry looks OK.
