On the paint thing if you're going to put on more copper than the taillight, then you could tie it all together with a copper flake in the paint, whatever color.
the copper flake may be an idea to concider. i do have silver, copper and burnt copper flake on the shelf right now. im just gonna go with the poll and see where that takes me.
as far as front brakes go, the original intent is to build an old style chopper. im hoping to adapt a second caliper to the rear to be actuated independantly of the original rear brake. the intention is to use a hand lever so that i can set up a foot clutch and still have a hill holder.
if necessary i will see about adding a front brake.
i have a certain build style in mind but i still want to be able to be able to ride it most anywhere. that may require a front brake or not. time will tell and i will do what it takes to keep it ridable and not be just a garage ornament.

its not gonna be a professional polishing job but i will be able to say i did it.
i've got one side shining. im not satisfied yet but i will have to get a better aray of polishing supplies to improve the finish later.
to get this far i started with 60grit paper followed by 150 to knock off all the crud. then i hit it with a med wire brush to get down into all the little knicks and dents.
then i went to the dremel. started with 60 and 120grit barrels then 180,220and240 grit discs. then a rubber disc with emory followed by a cloth disc with red rouge then a small felt barrel and a good buffing with a microfiber towel.
right now i just want to see progress but to be satisfied i will have to spend more time on it. right now the surface is too wavy.

thanks
i think it will be an interesting light when finished.
its been a long time since i've polished anything. before im done i think i will probably visit the eastwood catalog and get some better polishing supplies.
right now i only have red rouge. i think i will try to get the white and green and use it after some finer grit paper.
i would really like to get the wavyness out of it.
hopefully progress will start to happen at a faster pace but im not gonna hold my breath.

found a few affordable polishing supples at harbor freight and did a little more polishing on the taillight, pics to follow when i get it to a state im satisfied with. also spent a little time trying to locate a few parts for the light but otherwise i haven't made any real progress on the bike lately. finances took a dive so it's stalled right now. crying1
even so i figured i would check the color poll.
what a suprise :o , there is a definate top three and its close.
thanks to all who have answered the poll so far.

more real work on the bike soon....stay tuned. type1

man dont worry about a late comment, this build will probably go down as the slowest on the board.
any and all comments are welcome here. good bad or indifferent.

yeah i will sell it. its in pretty decent shape and the bulb was still good when i pulled it off.
the brackets are there too if you need them.
i had previously sanded them for a brushed look.
they are decent too and would really come to life if they were rubbed a little more for a good polish.

shoot me a pm with an offer and lets see if we cant make it yours.

today is the 1yr mark for me on this board. dancr
i want to thank ya'll for including me in your world and for putting up with me.
i have benifited from the collective knowledge of the members and learned an incredible amount about these machines
and about some of the people who love to work on and ride them.
i feel that i have made some new friends and regret that i was unable to attend the pig trail rally. i do hope to be able to attend some of the future events and meet some of ya'll in person. i figure that will be suitable punishment for exposing me to so many great looking bikes and making me realize how much work mine really needs. lol!
i hope to continue to participate and to enjoy this place for quite a while.
again, thanks for providing this sight and allowing me to play here.
cheers to ya anim-cheers1

the months of july and august yielded absolutely no progress on the bike. :(
on the brighter side, i did do some clean up in the shop done.
and i did decide on another piece to use.
i decided i will use this sissy bar. it will have to be modifed to fit , but i think it will
work out nicely.

fred
i like the idea of including cool vintage parts into a project when i can.
my problem is trying not to stray to far from my original concept every time i come across a cool part.
but i know that sissy bar will be killer once its cleaned up and installed.
