I've had the moon disc idea going for a while... My '81 is a dresser, but I'd really like to try some custom stuff, and I'm a HUGE fan of lowridin' '49 Merc's and old school rods. Hmmm, Mercury was the "wingfooted" god of speed...

if you decide to install a pair of moons on your bike i sure would like to see the results.

i have been looking for a narrow white wall tire(110/90-19) to fit the wheel that i want to use on this bike. the search has been very unsuccessful.
i see skinny tires with small white stripes on other bikes so i assume that they are beeing made, possibly not in the size i want though.
i,ve mostly been looking in shops and a little online but my online search skills are only adequate.
i'm asking if some of you with better skills could aid me in this search?
any brand, sizes within one size up or down should work as long as its a nww tire.
thanks for your help in advance.

i hate it when you think you have things figured out and then something comes along to put doubts in your head.
that has happened with my front wheel selection.
i like the idea of a 19" front heel but i found this 16" wheel in some neglected parts and the single rib design caught my eye.

i also thought i had the taillight situation under control but that too has taken a turn for different.
the stock lights were in good shape but too bulky for my taste.
the bsa unit is what i replaced them with. i thought it would do.
that is until Placerville put ideas in my head.
now i have a project within a project.
the brass piece will become my newest taillight.

That wheel looks like a Kawasaki. Just like the front from the '78 LTD I put a new tire on today. If you use it you'll probably need to do some fabricating to get the calipers alligned with the rotors. Maybe some bearing swapping to for the axle.

thanks for the tip on what it might be.
i figured the bearings would have to be swapped to make it work.
as far as brake alignment goes; if i stick to the current plan, there won't be any front brakes to align.
crazy i know, but i think i can pull it off if i do what i've been contemplating and add another caliper to the rear.
originally, and maybe still, i was wanting to use the 19" because the difference between it and the stock 15" in the rear would be so noticible.
thing is i like the single rib design of the16" i found today.
i've got plenty of time to decide so when i do i will let ya'll know.

I did not vote for the copper hue, as the psychodelic was shouting at me to pick it. But copper hue is my real favorite. I kind of like the over and under option for the front lights, if you have yet to decide. Side by side looks great, but is kinda common. This bike is anything but. Not having a front brake does not sit well with me, how about a drum?

im hoping it turns out. i found a supplier for red plastic with a bonded on refraction piece. it is moldable.
i think i am going to ditch the 38 lense and use this material to make a custom light.

im still very interested to see how this poll turns out. which ever way it does will be the way it gets painted. i guess its a good thing that i like all the options i put up for consideration. lol!
i think you are right about the lights. im sure they will end up in the over under position.
as far as brakes go its still up in the air but the plan is to build a bracket and add an additional caliper to the rear wheel that will be activated by hand. hopefully it works. nothing ventured..... right?

checked the thread and am real excited to see the paint poll staying close.
i am glad to see that there is a variety of opinions as tothe color the bike should end up.
thanks to everyone who has given input so far.
im going to keep the poll open right up till paint time(looks like a lomg time away right now)
until then i guess its back to the garage for some more day dreaming and a little wrenching.

It only takes one brake to slide the rear wheel, the benefit of the additional brake would be the added weight to make it not slide quite as soon? There are some tiny little front discs out there that wouldn't hurt the looks much and would provide some stopping power.
On the paint thing if you're going to put on more copper than the taillight, then you could tie it all together with a copper flake in the paint, whatever color.
