Re: duke182's -"worlds slowest build thread"
got a 67 beezer ..ooh ~ 20+ years ago, ran when i bought it then took a few parts off, been pretty much sittin' since,
motor was still free when i tried that a few mths ago,
lots went down over that period, bad bike crash (took 5yrs to settle a no brainer case), fired, almost lost everything a few times..with plenty of dough the odd time, then many periods flat broke...looking at bankruptcies
next thing you know, kids are healthy & all grown up & pretty much had given up riding for decades,
so here i am now fiddling/puttin' about with a few cheap wings, crossing paths with folks like cyborg, wiskerfish, the doc, sidecar gal, gregforesi (who were all passing thru) & others, even a few fellow canucks eh!

Re: duke182's -"worlds slowest build thread"
Well, I just read through this thread to catch up, started somewhere back in '13... I'm glad that your health issues have improved, and you're doing a great job of keeping the faith! I don't remember if you posted on my thread 'The Sad Truth' but, been there done that, and with a few extra bikes in the mix, lol. I work a funky schedule, six plus days a week, and my partner wants to strangle me some days, but I've made finishing this bike an every day priority. I commit to 15 minutes every day, which, once I start, turns into 1 or two hours. I make a weekly list of the project, broken down into sections, ie. carbs, brakes, tires, etc. then into specific tasks that are small enough to show progress over short periods of time. Whenever I finish a task, I cross it off using a black sharpie. It really feels good to scratch through those lines! And I can see the progress! I might jump around from section to section due to time constraints, but something is getting done. Having the list also helps remind me of the little things that need doing that don't cost anything but time. It's still progress!

I read through your thread.
Very interesting and inspiring.
I throughly agree with your ideas about lists and completing tasks in small steps.
Hopefully I can get better than I have been at emplementing these stratagies.

I finally got to making lists also, what a difference it makes mentally to complete something, and the satisfaction you feel when you cross it off the list.

Re: duke182's -"worlds slowest build thread"
A little better than a year has passed and I thought I should update the thread.
The bike is sitting at the edge of the patio, wrapped up nicely. Sitting there as a reminder of my shame.
No progress of the mechanical sort has occured.
On the personal side of things, I lost a job, missed a Dr's appointment and had to wait and argue and fight to get and keep a meager unemployment check.
But things turned for the better. I finally made it to the Dr. My heart was good. I had lost 18lbs in 9 months.
My bp was 110/70.
Two weeks later I found a job and I am gainfully employed again.
Now, I just need to make some things happen with the bike.
Stay tuned
Something is bound to happen.sooner or later.

Re: duke182's -"worlds slowest build thread"
A little over a year ago the conversation was about the effectiveness of using lists to stay motivated and see progress.
Since then several posts were encouraging.
And I dont like to give up, so, I have a new plan of attack to get some things done.
When I started this I made a list.
I now know that it was not specific enough and it was too long to hold my interest.
I have a new list, a very long list, but I have broken it down into what I hope will be managable segments.
I will leave the original list at the front of the thread because it is part of the history of this build.
I will put the new list into play by putting a portion of it into my next post.
I will mark items when completed and add items when warranted.
Hopefully this will do for me what lists have done for others. Provide encouragement and track progress.
Progress is desprately needed on this project, so here goes,
A NEW BEGINNING!
